Ryan Paevey Not Returning To Or Wanted By Hallmark

On Friday, Ryan Paevey went to Instagram Stories to answer questions from about 1,200 fans. The Q&A went on for close to 90 minutes. Fans asked a cornucopia of questions, including asking about his role as caregiver to his mother who has stage 4 lung cancer.

Inevitably, fans wanted to know whether or not he will be returning to acting. He shared that he has no plans to act now. Ryan had said many times over that he was disillusioned with Hollywood of late. He never mentioned the strike, but in 2023 he spent half of his year unable to work due to the SAG-AFTRA strike.

His June announcement that he was stepping away shocked many who loved his holiday movies like Christmas At The Plaza. He has starred in six Hallmark Christmas movies since 2018. Was there a glimmer of hope that he would return for the holidays?

Therefore, it made sense that one hopeful fan asked whether or not he would be making a Christmas movie for 2024. Paevey made it clear that this will never be happening anytime soon. His answer was very specific.

I’m not going to be in Christmas movies this year. No, I can’t work with them, and they don’t want to work with me.

Although he did not specifically call out Hallmark, this is the only network where he made holiday movies.

It did not help that the Timeless Christmas star told fans on social media that he did not get residuals. This led to him leaving an uncomfortable video revealing that his union, SAG AFTRA was stepping in and teaching him about his contract. These stars get their residuals paid upfront.

In turn, Hallmark released a statement that their “thoughts” were with their former exclusive actor as he cared for his sick mother.

However, in this social media encounter, Ryan Paevey indicated that he was open to returning to acting. He shared that he went to fabulous places and had “really, really good experiences.” But right now, he is not interested in acting.
