Hurricane Helene rocked the Southeastern part of the United States last week, with North Carolina being one of the hardest-hit states. As a result, many fans were concerned about Whitney Way Thore. The My Big Fat Fabulous Life star took to social media to update everyone on how she was doing following the storm. Here is what she had to say.

Whitney Way Thore Confirms She Is Safe After Hurricane

Whitney Way Thore is a North Carolina native and has spent much of her life in the southern state. Thankfully, she was not impacted by Hurricane Helene. She took to Instagram to talk about what she’s been doing to help other people in NC though.

In her video, Whitney said that she’d received a lot of messages, comments, and emails asking if she was safe following the catastrophic storm. Where she is located in Greensboro was not impacted by the storm. She said that they experienced “nothing” where she lives, but the mountain region of the state has been absolutely devastated by the damage.

The TLC star pointed out that areas like Boone and Asheville, where she spent a lot of time in her college years, are experiencing “unprecedented” levels of devastation from the storm. As a result, she has been doing what she can to contribute to helping people in her state.

Whitney Shares Resources For Those Who Wish To Donate

The My Big Fat Fab Life star went on to say that she’d bought a number of supplies to send on a truck to the affected areas. She also shared several resources for other people to chip in as well.

In the caption, Whitney Way Thore wrote, “Thank y’all so much for reaching out to my family and me after Helene. If you have the resources, please donate at the link in my bio to NC Disaster Relief. If you’re local, or want more detailed updates, @visitasheville and @exploreboone are good places to start.”


Fans took to the comment section to express how grateful they were to hear Whitney wasn’t affected by the hurricane. “So glad you and your loved ones are safe!” one person wrote. Another commented, “When I saw it hit NC I was like gosh I hope Whitney and her family are okay. Glad things are good!” A third person said they were relieved, writing, “So happy you and your family and friends are safe and doing well. I was concerned that something happened during the hurricane.”

This was the first update from Whitney Way Thore in nearly a week. Several people applauded her for taking the time to share resources for donations and details about where locals can help.
