Watch Kelly Monaco’s Emotional Goodbye to GH Cast and Crew

GH Kelly Monaco brick

There wasn’t a dry eye in the house when Kelly Monaco’s final episodes of General Hospital aired and Sam’s family and friends said a final farewell to the character who had been a part of the canvas since 2003. And recently, a video of the actress saying some final words to the cast and crew after her last scene on the soap surfaced on Twitter/X courtesy of a fan. In it, she stands at the edge of Sam’s hospital room set holding a bouquet of flowers, still in wardrobe.

“I’ve been on this lot for 25 years,” Monaco said, her voice choked with emotion. “And you have all been my family. Not only my second family but my first family. And I just thank each and every one of you for all these memories… and this experience that I’ll take with me… for the rest of my life”

She then went on to call special attention to the GH casting director who brought her over to the soap after her popular run as Livvie Locke on spinoff Port Charles. “Mark Teschner,” Monaco continued, gesturing in his direction. “You started this whole journey for me. And it has been a wild ride. And it will not be the last that you see of me.”Kelly Monaco goodbye

Having said her piece, Monaco raised her flowers in a gesture of gratitude, and the cast and crew in attendance burst into applause, with some moving in for hugs.

Monaco got her big break playing Livvie Locke on Port Charles from 1999 until the soap came to an end in 2003. She then moved over to GH proper to play the newly created role of Sam McCall until the character was tragically killed off in November 2024. During that time, she earned two Daytime Emmy Award nominations for her performances and legions of loyal fans.
