Loss often has a way of bringing people together. Apparently, it has done the same for Janelle and Kody Brown. The estranged exes have been in contact more since the loss of their son, Garrison Brown, earlier this year. Janelle has opened up about how it has changed the family dynamic. Janelle & Kody Brown Check On Each Other
Janelle Brown spoke with People about how Garrison’s death has brought the family closer together. The Sister Wives star said that her son’s passing has rejuvenated some of the more complicated relationships within the Brown clan.
“Especially with the children, Christine’s children, Meri’s child, my children, have really reinforced relationships and maybe renewed some that were struggling,” she told the publication. “They’ve drawn closer and that’s been a really wonderful thing to see because once you get to be adults you drift away.”
Although everyone is busy in the family, all of the children have made “real efforts to connect” with each other since Garrison’s death. The adults are still living their separate lives, but Janelle said that she and her estranged ex-husband Kody Brown have been keeping in touch.
“Kody and I will periodically check on each other, and he’s kind of grieving in his own way, but I live a very separate life from him, and I do wish everybody well,” she said. “I think that maybe it puts perspective, maybe it does, maybe you’re not quite so angry or so whatever.”
Fans Will See How The Wives Interact In New Season
As Sister Wives fans know, Kody Brown has four wives, Meri, Christine, Janelle, and Robyn Brown. For a period of time, they all lived happily under the same roof. While the relationships in the house had their ups and downs, everyone seemed to genuinely care for each other.
In November of 2021, the family started to crumble. Within 14 months, all of Kody Brown’s marriages dissolved except for one: his marriage to Robyn Brown. Christine Brown was the first to split after more than 25 years of marriage.
A year after Christine left, Janelle Brown separated from the family. Then, another month after that, Meri Brown decided to leave as well, revealing that the relationship between her and Kody had been platonic for years.
Even though the family fans have watched on TLC has fallen apart, Janelle Brown said that she hopes she can be involved in some way with all of the children. “I love the kids. I love hanging out with them,” she shared. “And Christine and I remain close. Obviously, we have very different lives, we’re kind of going in different directions but we still remain very close.”
Fans will get to see how Kody Brown and the rest of the wives “come together” in the upcoming season of Sister Wives, which premieres on Sunday, September 15 at 10 p.m. EST.
