‘Suits LA’ Tributes ‘GH’ Star Billy Miller, What’s Next For Character?
Actor Billy Miller was known for many roles, from General Hospital to Suits. Following his death in 2023, the Suits spin-off, Suits LA, recently paid tribute to the late actor. In addition, fans were also told the fate of his character on the original show.
Many Soap Fans May Have First Seen Billy Miller On The Young & The Restless Or General Hospital
As an actor Miller is best known for his work in soaps. From 2008 to 2014, he played Billy Abbott on The Young and the Restless. Following this, he appeared on General Hospital, where he played Jason Morgan and Drew Cain, ultimately leaving the soap in 2019.
Around the time he appeared on General Hospital, Miller also played the character of Marcus Specter on Suits. On the show, Marcus was the younger brother of Gabriel Macht’s character Harvey, who often needed him to help him get him out of trouble.
As noted by Michael Fairman TV, Miller passed away on September 15, 2023. At the time, an autopsy had ruled that his death was a suicide. Miller was 43 at the time of his death, a few days before his 44th birthday.
While Suits finished its original run in 2019, the series recently saw the release of a spin-off, Suits LA, which premiered back in February. This series explore Stephen Amell’s character Ted Black as he moves West to restart his legal career.
Recently, an episode airing on April 20, “Bat Signal,” paid tribute to Miller, in addition to explaining his character’s fate. Harvey, who serves as a recurring character on the spin-off, initially appears in a flashback. In an emotional moment, he revealed that Marcus had died offscreen a few years back.
Suits‘ Gabriel Macht & Miller’s Mother Both Previously Shared Statements Over The Actor’s Passing
Marcus was said to have died of cancer. Harvey opened up to Ted especially as he had also endured the loss of a brother. In addition, the episode showcased a dedication reading “In memory of Billy Miller.”
Taking to X, Macht previously shared a tribute to Miller after the news of his passing came out. At the time, he shared, “RIP my tv bro #BillyMiller I am touched by ur thoughtfulness, ur authentic honest approach 2 ur art, ur kind nature & big smile that Litt us all. May ur memory always be a blessing to ur Mother, ur Sister & her children. & 2 so many you’ve touched. Peace & [Love.]”
As previously reported, at the time of his death, in a statement with Soap Opera Digest, Miller’s mother Patricia also shared, “I want to personally thank the many fans & personal friends for the overwhelming amount of love, prayers & condolences sent to me and my family on the devastating death of my beautiful son BJ, Billy Miller. He fought a long hard valiant battle with bipolar depression for years. He did everything he could to control the disease.”
“[Billy] loved his family, his friends and his fans but in the end the disease won the fight. And he surrendered his life. The other causes of death being told are not true. I wish they were but they just aren’t. We all loved him so much and are desperately trying to deal with our loss. I will have nothing further to say. Thanks for the love and support.”
Suits LA currently airs on Sunday on NBC and is currently in its first season. The season will also have episodes airing on April 27 and May 4, “Slugfest” and “Tearin’ Up My Heart.”
