Many Sister Wives stars easily predicted the Brown family’s breakdown. But according to Meri Brown, she was completely shattered and surprised by the situation.
After spending decades as a polygamist family, the Brown family members have scattered to the winds and are living their own lives.
Meri Brown was often caught up in the family drama, so some Sister Wives fans feel surprised the divorces caught her so off guard. What exactly did Meri have to say about the situation?
Meri Brown wishes the best for the other family members
As the latest Sister Wives season continues, Meri Brown spoke with PEOPLE about the situation at hand. She admits she found the situation incredibly sad.
“It’s very disappointing to me,” the TLC star shared. “And also, I get that we’re all unique individuals and we want the best for ourselves. And if the best for ourselves is not within the same family structure that we built and that we’ve had for so long, it is what it is, and I just want everybody to be happy with where they are.”
The Browns had their share of problems, but Meri adamantly states she didn’t see them breaking up.
“So no, I didn’t ever see this coming. I really didn’t. But I really truly just want everybody to be in a peaceful place with themselves,” she added.
If that’s what Meri Brown truly wants, it seems that she got her wish. Christine Brown remarried this fall and Janelle Brown is focused on being a mother and grandmother. Each woman has their own life, personal projects, and business ventures away from Kody Brown.
The TLC star reflects on the past 30 years
Although things are rocky within the Brown family right now, Meri also admits she thought she and Kody would be together forever. After all, no one gets married with the intent of divorcing later on.
“It was not something that I ever saw happening in my marriage, especially when we got married 33 years ago,” the TLC star told PEOPLE. “You don’t think that that’s ever going to happen. And as we built the family, you just don’t think that what is going to happen is going to happen. You don’t know. You have no idea.”
Overall, most Sister Wives fans feel relieved that the women are free to build their own lives now. Online, many fans stated that Meri seems much happier and brighter these days.
