Sister Wives Spoilers – Kody Brown Thinks Men Desire Multiple Women
Kody Brown feels that polygamy succeeds because it fulfills the needs of men. And the Sister Wives patriarch explained his views on the podcast Mormon Discussions.
Because of his belief in polygamy, Kody insists that men “want more than one woman.” And he also stated that women desire a “better man” than the one they have, according to Cheat Sheet.
However, despite devoting 33 years of his life to polygamy, Kody no longer lives in a plural marriage. But that didn’t stop the Sister Wives patriarch from defending polygamy.
And he feels that it succeeds because men and women want more in their relationships than monogamy can provide.
And Kody called it “a paradox. If you ask me if plural marriage or polygamy is good for society, I’m going to tell you it has to be.” But he warned, “You’re never going to stop it, and the reason you’re never going to stop it is because two things are going on. Men are polygynous; we want to have one more woman, no matter how programmed we are for monogamy.”

But Kody also thinks he knows what women desire. “Women want a better man than the one she’s got,” said the Sister Wives patriarch. “As long as you have hypergamy, you’ll have polygamy, and as long as you have polygamy, you’ll have hypergamy.”
The dictionary definition of hypergamy involves “marriage into an equal or higher caste or social group.” And Kody seems to feel that polygamy allows men and women to benefit from a marriage with multiple spouses.
However, licensed clinical social worker Shamyra Howard clarified a different perspective. “Hypergamy is essentially a patriarchal constructed form of partnership from a time when women had very little education, weren’t able to work, and needed their partner for survival.” And that description seems to parallel what Kody has established with his wife Robyn.
Robyn obeys Kody faithfully. And she depends on him for financial support. She also does not work. But some fans believe Robyn married Kody only to make money.
However, the Sister Wives patriarch then shared that he sees polygamy as natural. “Everyone makes jokes about men and their wandering eyes,” said Kody. “The strongest monogamists still go hubba, hubba when a good-looking woman goes by. It’s a biological nature. As long as there’s this woman who wants a married man, this married man is going to want polygamy.”
