Sister Wives: How Christine Brown Celebrated Garrison’s Birthday (She Misses Him)
Christine Brown helped raise Garrison Brown as if he were her own. See how the Sister Wives star honored him on what would have been his birthday.
Sister Wives stars are still reeling from the tragic death of Garrison Brown, including Christine Brown Wooley, who helped raise him. Garrison was born on April 10, 1998, to Kody Brown and his second wife, Janelle Brown. Kody had already married his third wife, Christine, by the time Garrison was born, so she had known him literally his whole life. While the family was growing, Kody and Janelle were the family’s main breadwinners. As they went to work, it was Christine who raised the children, meaning she was like a mother to Garrison.
On March 5, 2024, the reality television universe was rocked by the untimely death of 25-year-old Garrison. Janelle had been concerned about her son’s mental health. When the Sister Wives season 18 star couldn’t reach him, she sent her other son, Gabriel Brown, to check on his brother. It was Gabriel who found Garrison, dead by a self-inflicted gunshot wound, in his Flagstaff, Arizona, home. The family has been in mourning ever since. On what would have been Garrison’s twenty-sixth birthday, Christine posted a series of family photos to Instagram.
Christine Had So Much Fun With Garrison
She Was His Other Mother
When Sister Wives premiered in 2010, the Browns were one big happy family living under one roof. Kody, his three wives, and 12 children added a fourth wife, Robyn Brown, and her three children from a previous marriage to their family. The addition of a new wife and kids changed the family’s dynamic. It was clear from the beginning Kody preferred his new wife, and started spending less time with his other wives and children. This understandably led to jealousy and resentment.
Though Christine left Kody, she didn’t divorce the whole family. She maintained close relationships with Janelle and her children, whom she had raised alongside her own. Christine was devastated by Garrison’s death. On April 10, which would have been Garrison’s birthday, Christine posted a tribute on Instagram with a carousel of family photos. The caption read, “Yesterday was Garrison’s birthday. Gosh. It was just too hard to post. So many good times, so many memories…not enough though.”
Garrison Helped Truely Plant A Garden
He Was Such A Good Brother
Janelle posted several other Instagram photos of Garrison on his birthday. In one photo, Garrison helps his little sister, Truely Brown, plant a garden. Truely is Christine’s daughter, but they love each other as if they were full siblings. In the photo, Garrison and Truely proudly pose beside their freshly filled flower bed, wearing gardening gloves. Many followers took to the comment section to send Christine and the Brown family support in their time of mourning.
” He was loved by so many ,” wrote one person. ” Sending Love and Light to the entire Brown Family […] Happy Birthday Sweet Garrison “
Kody Brown & Sons
In Happier Times
Kody was actively feuding with his older sons at the time of Garrison’s death. After Kody married Robyn, his older children felt neglected by their father. The COVID-19 pandemic divided the family even further. Kody and Robyn were terrified of getting sick and enacted strict mitigation rules. When Garrison and Gabriel couldn’t follow the rules, Kody stopped seeing them, and the three stopped speaking. It is unclear if Garrison’s death inspired Kody to mend his troubled relationship with Gabriel.
Things weren’t always bad between Kody and his sons, who had always enjoyed a close relationship.
Janelle posted a photo taken during happier times for the Sister Wives stars. In the picture, Kody, Garrison, Gabriel, and Robyn’s son from a previous marriage, Dayton Brown, smile at the camera, appearing to have a great time together. At the time of Garrison’s death, he was not speaking to his father.
Holidays With Garrison
Garrison’s Last Christmas
The Browns had always spent the holidays together. After having two additional children with Robyn, the number of Brown children swelled to 18. Every Christmas, the big, happy family would gather to work through a massive pile of gifts. During COVID-19, everything changed. The Browns started celebrating holidays in separate homes for the first time, and they never reunited.
Christine‘s Instagram tribute to Garrison on his birthday included a photo from Garrison’s last Christmas, which he spent with Christine and her children. In the image, Garrison and Christine’s son, Paedon Brown, show off their new gifts, surrounded by a giant pile of more gifts. Behind them, is a giant Christmas tree that is twinkling festively.
Future holidays will never be the same for the Browns without Garrison there.
The Browns Planted A Tree In Honor Of Garrison
A Loving Tribute
In the final photos in the carousel that Christine posted to Instagram, Christine and several of her children planted a tree in honor of Garrison on what would have been his birthday. In one photo, Truely digs a hole in the garden. In another photo, Christine’s other daughter, Ysabel Brown, plants the tree. In the final image, Truely, Ysabel, and Paedon proudly survey their handiwork. Planting a tree for their deceased brother is a beautiful tribute they will remember for many years.
The end of Christine’s caption read, “‘ Lo there do I see the line of my people back to the beginning. ‘Lo they do call to me. They bid me take my place among them in the halls of Valhalla, where the brave may live forever .”
Sister Wives fans in the comment section were moved by the post. “The tree is a lovely tribute,” wrote one person, with a sentiment that was often repeated by others. Some fans were impressed that Christine included a photo with Kody in the tribute, despite their contentious divorce. “Including Kody in this tribute to Garrison,” wrote one person. “You’re a class act all the way, Christine.”
