What Was on Meri Brown’s Boyfriend Checklist Before She Introduced New Love Amos to the World? (Exclusive)

Meri Brown knew just what she was looking for in her next partner after Kody Brown.
Before going public with her new relationship with boyfriend Amos, the 53-year-old Sister Wives star told PEOPLE about what’s most important to her regarding a new love interest.
“Laughter — snort laughter,” she said. “I mean, you got to do that — but also be able to have real conversations and honest conversations.”
Meri also noted she was “super excited” about the next chapter in her life.
“I am. I’m really excited about it,” she explained. “There’s a lot of things that are still unknown, and that’s OK. And I have to tell myself often that that’s OK, that things are unknown. Because I do believe that they will come to me at the time that they’re meant to come to me, but I also have a lot of control, a lot of things that I can control, and I’m really excited for those things.”

Meri had been in a polygamous marriage with Kody, 54, for the last three decades. She was the Brown family patriarch’s first wife and initially his only wife in the eyes of the law until Kody divorced her in order to be able to legally wed Robyn Brown in 2014. (The move was meant to be a positive one for Kody, his wives and their children — with Kody setting out to adopt Robyn’s children from her previous marriage and welcome them into his own larger polygamous family unit.)
In January of last year, Meri and Kody jointly announced their separation on Instagram. The breakup news followed Christine Brown’s decision to leave Kody in 2021 and Janelle Brown’s decision to leave in 2022.

Meri unveiled her new relationship with Amos while recently celebrating her 53rd birthday, saying he is “the good looking guy I’ve been dating since October.”
“He’s not 6 foot 6, nor is he a pilot, but he loves Christmas almost as much as I do, and we laugh a lot together, both of which are important elements to a relationship,” she wrote on Instagram. “Also, [my dog] Zona absolutely loves him (be sure to swipe to see the cutest picture!)”
