Ron Hale Dies at 78, GH Remembers Original Mike Actor General Hospital Spoilers

Actor Ron Hale, best known for his roles on Ryan’s Hope and General Hospital, died on Aug. 27, 2024, at the age of 78. “The entire GH family is saddened to hear of Ron Hale’s passing,” the soap posted on social media. “We would like to extend our condolences to his loved ones during this difficult time. He was an incredible actor and an unforgettable colleague. May he rest in peace.”

Born in Grand Rapids, MI, Hale attended Furman University and began his acting career in the late ‘60s appearing as Walt Driscoll on Search for Tomorrow and Dr. Jim Abbott on Love Is a Many Splendored Thing. He became a soap star in 1975, playing Roger Coleridge on Ryan’s Hope until 1989 and earning two Daytime Emmy Award nominations during his run. From 1995-2010, Hale played Sonny’s father, Mike Corbin on GH, earning a whole new group of fans.

During his decades in show business, Hale also appeared in television shows like Matlock and MacGyver, as well as films like All the Presidents Men and Trial by Jury.

“It’s with a heavy heart that we’ve lost another great one,” Billy Warlock (ex-A.J., GH) shared on Twitter/X. “My dear friend Ron Hale has passed away. Ron was an amazing talent and an even better friend. I will miss you.”

Hale is survived by his nieces and nephews, Lori Brown (Janet Brabham), Max Brabham, Erin Wilson (Laurens), and Marc Brown (Betsy). Our thoughts are with his family and friends during this difficult time.
