In recent seasons, MBFFL fans watched Whitney Way Thore date a mysterious French guy. He wasn’t comfortable with his name or likeness being used on the show, so many details about him are still unknown.

And the Frenchman storyline only adds fuel to the fire. Plenty of viewers feel convinced that Whitney’s exes aren’t real.

“I am just now catching up and on season 9. This French guy thing is entirely made up right?” a Redditor asked on the platform recently. “No name ever used, he’s blurred out, he NEVER says anything about them dating or even liking her romantically at all. Did the show manufacture this or did she? Also, I remember years ago reading that the entire Chase relationship was fake. Where did we land on that? Was it for sure all faked?”

“How dare you assume he’s fake!!!! Everything Big W says is real!!!! Nothing on the show is scripted EVER!!!!! HE ALMOST WENT TO MAINE FOR HER HE WENT TO THE AIRPORT AND EVERYTHING!!!!” another Redditor wrote, inundated with heavy sarcasm.

“From what I know, Chase and Ryan hatched a plan with Whitney to be on the show,” someone else speculated. “Ryan joined Whitney in a business endeavor which he now has been doing successfully on his own, as well as Chase. Chase was to play the part of the boyfriend and people have said that he was still dating his girlfriend at the time, now wife, during the time he was on the show.”

Was Whitney’s relationship with Lennie even real?

Although Lennie Alehat has been one of Whitney’s more well-known exes, there’s been some speculation online that their romance wasn’t real either. Several My Big Fat Fabulous Life viewers thought they might get back together, but now it seems that ship has sailed.

Lennie recently announced that he just welcomed a brand new daughter. Most viewers didn’t realize that Lennie’s romantic relationship had escalated to that level. Again, this could be another element the show chose to downplay.
