Whitney Thore has always been aware of her good friend, Tal Fish’s, battle with his mental health. She knows that he had struggled with depression in the past. However, she finds out that it is more severe than she thought. He tells her that he has been going to therapy weekly. But he recently feels that it’s not enough for him. He has been feeling more depressed.
So, the My Big Fat Fabulous Life cast member decides to take some time off work. He reveals that he will be attending an intensive outpatient program. She finds the news shocking and admits that she didn’t know his mental health was that bad.
Tal admits he has been putting on a brave face in front of Whitney and all their friends. However, he “has been struggling pretty badly for months.” He was starting to have “really dark, hopeless thoughts.”
Tal Wants to Attend Whitney’s Birthday Spain Trip
Whitney explains that Tal has always had a lot on his plate. She feels he “really helps other people with their mental health.” So, she doesn’t find it surprising that it can “become a really heavy load at times.” She loves that he decided to put himself first.
Whitney asks Tal if he is going to make it to her birthday trip to Spain. The My Big Fat Fabulous Life castmate tells her that he is going to try and make both work. He feels that going is taking care of himself because he really wants to be there.

He mentions the trip to Spain and tells her that he doesn’t know if he can go on a trip while he’s on leave from work to do treatment. He adds that he is anxious and a rule follower. So, he called HR to confirm whether he could go. However, he is still waiting for an answer.
The My Big Fat Fabulous Life celeb doesn’t want to do anything to compromise his job. However, at the same time, he would be devastated if he couldn’t go. So, he is hoping and praying that everything works out and he gets to go.
Whitney admits that she would be worried about Tal’s mental health if they all got to go on a trip and he got left behind. She struggles with her mental health and knows how good traveling is for it. So, she thinks it would be good for him to go on the trip. She hopes there is a way for him to come to Spain.
