It has been one year since One Life to Live star Kamar de los Reyes passed away on Christmas Eve, 2023, at the age of 56 after a battle with cancer. On the anniversary of his death, former co-star and close friend Michael Easton shared a heartfelt tribute to the actor, father, and man along with a beautiful carousel of photos on Instagram.
The actors first met on the set of the film Coldfire in 1990 and the good friends were reunited on screen in 2003 when Easton began playing John McBain on OLTL where de los Reyes had been playing Antonio Vega since 1995. “Thinking of my friend, Kamar de los Reyes, who passed away one year ago today,” Easton shared. “Kamar was a man of faith who never lost hope. He loved his wife and his children and their love for him was the life force that kept him going.
“He meant so much to so many,” he continued. “Millions of people knew Kamar from television and movies and videogames. I just knew him as my best friend. The best man at my wedding. For 30 years, he was always there for me and my family. The nights seem a little darker now, but I know he’s still with us, his light guiding us forward.”
Not only was Easton thinking of his late friend and his widow, Sherri Saum (Keri, OLTL), and his three sons, on this sad anniversary, but also life itself. “This day reminds me that life is precious, fragile, and I am so grateful for every second I get to spend with the people I love,” he concluded. “There’s no greater gift than waking up to see the beauty of the world. I wish you and your families a beautiful holiday season and may this Christmas bring you peace and happiness.”
