Whitney Way Thore of My Big Fat Fabulous Life fame recently welcomed a new addition to her family, sharing the news on social media. The news also comes out just as Thore shared a recent loss with fans. This also comes out as the star also shared news about her show.
The MBFFL Star Shared The Good News With Fans On Social Media
Thore is best known to audiences from the TLC series, My Big Fat Fabulous Life. The long-running series initially documented Thore’s personal health journey before expanding to focus on her love life.
Fans have seen Thore throughout 12 seasons of the show so far, with the most recent airing in 2024. In addition, Thore has also kept in touch with fans on social media.
Recently, the star shared a new addition to her family. On May 8, Thore took to Instagram to share that she had adopted a Persian kitten named Machete.
Said to have been adopted earlier in the month, Machete was said to be born on February 8, 2025, and currently weighs 1 pound, 3 ounces. “Proclivities” were listed as “to be determined.”
Thore is known for her love of dancing and she share this with Machete in the video. Moving his paw back and forth, she helped him “dance” along to Peaches & Herb’s “Shake Your Groove Thing,” which played in the background. The sleepy kitten could be seen resting on top of his new mother’s shirt during the moment.
This also comes out as Thore recently revealed tragic news with fans. She recently endured the loss of her beloved Persian cat, Henchi, who she adopted in South Korea. He lived with her for around 17 years.
Thore shared the news on Instagram, where she noted, “He was the most faithful companion to me for the last 17 years. And every day I was so overcome with love and affection for him as if it were the first day I ever knew him.”

“From the day I got him from a little pet shop in Korea he has brought me nothing but so much joy. I love you, Henchi.”
Thore had also used the platform to give fans an update about MBFFL, revealing that filming was already underway for Season 13. In a post, she shared, “We’ve been shooting My Big Fat Fabulous Life for over a decade and we’re starting production for season 13 soon!”
As Thore continued, “I never imagined my television career would last this long. And I’m always thinking of ways to set myself up for success in the future whenever I move on to something else.”
With Thore’s more recent post, fans have also been sharing their reactions to seeing Machete. A few fans noted the kitten’s resemblance to Henchi. Some comments included:
