Kody Brown Bad Mouthed Wives To Robyn Before He Married Her

Robyn and Kody Brown, TLC Sister Wives

After viewers saw Sister Wives’ specials, it was convincing that Kody Brown was bad-mouthing the other wives before marrying Robyn. Notably, many details came to light during the recent specials that have fans and former sister wives connecting the dots.

Kody Brown Faces The End Of Plural Marriage

On the recent Sister Wives: Talk Back special, Kody Brown and the former sister wives watched the last episode of Season 18. At that time, Meri Brown, Kody, and Robyn were discussing the end of Meri and Kody’s limping relationship. Unmistakably, fans picked up on a detail about Kody emphasizing his “sacred covenant” to Robyn. Although this was a moment to reiterate that Kody had promised Robyn he wouldn’t string her along if he wasn’t in love, it was heartbreaking for both Meri and Robyn. Seemingly, this wasn’t his stance on his marriages to Meri, Janelle, and Christine Brown. Then talking directly to Robyn in the clip, Kody spells out, “Our sacred covenant was if I’m ever not in love with you, I won’t just sit there and be in a pathetic place with you.”

Fans And Sister Wives’ Jaws Drop After Kody Brown’s Statement

However, once Kody Brown releases these words, Sister Wives fans and former sister wives are flabbergasted. On Reddit, an astonished fan starts a thread saying, “There is something about Meri.” Then dives into the “elephant in the room.” Saying, “Can we talk a second about the dawning of Jen’s words on Meri when she expressed to her (what I am sure many of us felt at the time as well) why Kody felt it necessary to make that ‘sacred Covenant’ to Robyn when she agreed to marry him unless he was already complaining about the other wives. What other reason would Robyn have to ever even think to ask him to swear to her to let her know if he ever fell out of love with her/stagnant with her? (paraphrasing). The dawning on Meris’s face was both priceless and heartbreaking.”

Fans Explode Over The Realization

Afterward, other Sister Wives fans exploded on Reddit about the interaction between Kody Brown, Robyn, and Meri in the comments:

  • “Yes, hearing the truth behind that ‘sacred covenant’ was an eye opening experience. It seemed so apparent to everyone else but her naïveté and trust kept her from hearing the truth behind those words. Robyn knew that Kody had just said was a huge revelation and she thought, at that point, the jig was up. Robyn doesn’t ‘speak Kody’ she censors him.”
  • “I had my mouth agape as well. Jen’s explanation made intuitive sense. What a d-bag Kody is.”
  • “It never even dawned on Meri that perhaps Kody had told Robyn before their marriage, that he was unhappy with the OG3, and that’s what caused Robyn to ask of this sacred covenant that he wouldn’t keep her in a ‘pathetic place.’”
  • “I can’t imagine the anger she will feel when she sees how many years she was strung along by the pair of them. Sh*t, all of the OG3 will go through this sooner or later. They could have moved on with their lives years ago.”
