Kelly Thiebaud Says Her General Hospital Return Will Be ‘A Wild Ride’

After the surprise news of her General Hospital return broke on June 6, Kelly Thiebaud took to social media to express her excitement over her imminent Port Charles comeback — and to tease what she called “a wild ride” that lies in store for fans.

The Comeback Trail

In a video posted on TikTok, Thiebaud addessed GH fans with a special message. “Hi everyone,” she began. “Didn’t know that I was going to get to talk about this so soon, as I literally just started back at work this week, but the cat’s out of the bag! I’m back on General Hospital! I’m very, very excited. So grateful to get to be there again and come back and entertain y’all. And it’s gonna be a wild ride,” she declared. “I’m so excited for y’all to see what the storyline is and how they’re bringing me back, in what capacity — all of the things that I can’t talk about. But I’m very excited and I’ll be back on your television screens in July.” Before signing off, she beamed, “Thank you for all the love and support.”

The Daytime Emmy Award-winning star, who joined the show in 2012 as Dr. Britt Westbourne, also posted a separate Instagram video of herself dancing and blowing kisses to the camera, which she captioned, “You guys rock!!! I am blown away by the outpouring of love and excited from yall!! You have no idea how much this means to me. Thank you🫶🏼 🥳💗🥰🤩🙏🏻 #letsfckngo #gh.”

For now, the show is keeping the details of Thiebaud’s return under wraps, leaving viewers to speculate about whether she’ll once again be playing Britt, or if the show is creating a new role for her to play. Both scenarios are possible; even though Britt died on-screen in January 2023 in what certainly seemed like a definitive fashion, returns from the dead are far from uncommon in the world of soaps, and on GH in particular. But so, too, is an actor playing more than one role on the show, a recent example being Michael Easton, who originally appeared as his One Life to Live alter ego, John McBain, and went on to play two more unrelated roles, Silas Clay and Hamilton Finn.

If Thiebaud does return as Britt, she may well be paired once again with Steve Burton (Jason); Britt and Jason had started to gain a following back in 2021 when Jason broke things off to marry Carly, and Burton later exited the show, only to return in 2024, after Thiebaud had left. And while Britt’s mother, Liesl Obrecht, hasn’t been spotted in Port Charles since 2023, and her BFF, Brad Cooper, just recently skipped town, Britt has other ties to the canvas, from her colleagues at the hospital to sister-in-law Maxie Jones (Kirsten Storms) and nephew James West.

But with Thiebaud’s first GH episode back slated to air next month, fans of the show won’t have to wait too long to find out which direction the show will be taking.
