General Hospital Spoilers: Hints of OG Lulu Spencer Return, Will Julie Berman Make A Comeback?

General Hospital (GH) spoilers suggest that despite Lulu Spencer’s dire circumstances now, fans know that her return is imminent. Earlier this month, the soap put out a casting call for a blonde character that fit Lulu’s description.

The actress that last played Lulu, Emme Rylan, confirmed on her Instagram Story that the show was looking for someone else to slip into Lulu’s shoes, and she would not be returning.

Since the news hit that Lulu needs a liver transplant, there’s been a lot of talk about the character’s past.

From Brook Lynn Quartermaine-Chase’s (Amanda Setton) chat with Harrison Chase (Josh Swickard) and Tracy Quartermaine’s (Jane Elliot) raw scenes with Dante Falconeri (Dominic Zamprogna) this week, Lulu’s history and past relationships have taken center stage.

In fact, most of the nostalgic talk about Lulu has been around her teen years, before she started a family with Dante.

Laura Collins (Genie Francis) and Luke Spencer’s (Anthony Geary) daughter officially entered the canvas in 1994 and was played by a variety of young actresses, until the character was SORAS’d, and Julie Berman entered the scene in 2005.

Lulu was a troubled teen, with a fiery heart, and while she transformed into more of a heroine as she became a young adult, she still was quite the spitfire.

Berman exited the role in 2013, and Emme Rylan was recast shortly after.

Rylan remained in the Lulu role until 2020 when her storyline swerved, and she landed in a coma.

While Rylan was beloved by fans, she had her own interpretation of the character. Lulu was still Lulu, but just different and evolved.

After all, Emme’s version of Lulu changed because Lulu herself had transformed, becoming a wife and mother to young children.

The talk around Lulu’s younger years could just be a way to bring fans up to speed on the character and the unique relationships she had with others on canvas.

So much has changed in Port Charles – Brook Lynn and her newfound bestie status with Lulu’s bestie, Maxie Jones (Kirsten Storms), is just one example – that GH writers may be simply setting fans up for Lulu’s awakening and shock to the new world around her.

Still, viewers can’t help but speculate that Berman could return to the role. Much like Rylan, she was a fan favorite, and many were saddened by her exit in 2013.

But, why the casting call if GH has Berman in mind?

Perhaps it was an attempt to see what other acting talent was out there, test the waters, or potentially swerve fans around another massive return.

General Hospital spoilers imply that fans should always expect the unexpected when it comes to the shenanigans in Port Charles.

It looks like the show is setting up some plot twists on the horizon where Lulu is concerned, so viewers will have to continue to tune into the ABC soap daily to see what happens next.
