Janelle Brown named executor of late son Garrison’s estate as ex Kody is left out of home sale and affairs
SISTER Wives star Janelle Brown has been named executor of her late son Garrison’s estate, as her ex-husband Kody has been left out of legal matters.
Janelle, 55, and Kody’s son Garrison, whose first name is Robert, died of suicide on March 4, 2024 at just 25 years old.
In Arizona court papers exclusively obtained by The U.S. Sun, Janelle has officially been appointed Personal Representative of Garrison’s estate.
As Personal Representative, Janelle handled the sale of Garrison’s Arizona home.
The U.S. Sun can exclusively reveal the four-bedroom, two-bathroom home sold for $388,650 on December 26.
The buyer provided a downpayment of $60,000.
Janelle is listed as the seller of the home.
Garrison’s dad Kody, 55, who he was estranged from at the time of his death, is not listed in the probate court documents or in the home sale.
MOVING ON
The sale of the home comes after Janelle struggled for months to find a buyer.
The Flagstaff, Arizona house was first listed for sale on September 13, 2024 for $425,000.
On October 3, Janelle dropped the price of the house to $399,900.
The home price was slashed again on November 11 to $389,900.
The house was listed as “under contract” on November 26.
Garrison purchased the 1,441-square-foot home in December 2021 for $329,000.
The real estate listing read, “The home has fresh paint, vinyl floors and air conditioning.
“On the main level you will find a living room with gas fireplace, kitchen, pantry, laundry/washer dryer and an office/den with a 3/4 bath.
“Upstairs has four bedrooms, each with vaulted ceilings. A full bath is also located upstairs. The home has a small fenced-in courtyard and a small fenced backyard as well.”
The house has been featured on episodes of TLC’s Sister Wives.
TRAGIC LOSS
Kody and Janelle’s son died of suicide and passed away from a gunshot wound.
The suicide took place in the bedroom of his home.
Garrison’s body was found by his brother Gabe on the morning of March 5.
In the police report obtained by The U.S. Sun, Gabe told authorities his older brother “had been struggling with mental health concerns and alcohol abuse.”
Janelle told authorities Garrison “stopped texting” the night before his suicide and sent “troubling messages.”
Janelle told authorities she “should have gotten Garrison help in the past.”
ESTRANGEMENT FROM KODY
She also told police he was estranged from Kody.
Garrison and Kody, who is a father of 18, had a tumultuous relationship for years.
As featured on Sister Wives, Kody and Garrison had a falling out because he refused to follow his dad’s strict covid rules.
They also argued over Kody living full-time with his fourth wife Robyn and their five children, as he rarely saw his three wives Meri, Christine and Janelle, and his kids with them.
REMEMBERING GARRISON
A private funeral was held for Garrison on March 9.
Then on March 24, the family gathered at the Clark County Armory in Las Vegas, Nevada, to honor Garrison, a former Staff Sergeant in the Army National Guard.
Earlier this month, Janelle posted a photo of her son with two of her grandchildren.
“First of the ‘big’ holidays without you sweetheart,” Janelle wrote. “We all gathered in NC to celebrate together and kept your photo close by. We laughed about your silly sense of humor and told so many stories honoring you.
“We ate, played games and enjoyed each other’s company. Everyone is returning home now and normal life resumes tomorrow. But I feel you close by.”
Janelle also shares kids Logan, Maddie, Hunter, Gabe, and Savanah with Kody.

Janelle and Kody announced their split on Sister Wives: One on One in 2023.
