Since 2007, Heartland has charmed audiences with its heartfelt characters and endearing storylines. The sprawling family saga follows the Bartlett-Fleming family on their multi-generational Alberta-based ranch.

Across 16 years, Heartland has followed the Bartlett-Fleming family through both the happy times and the challenging times. Many praise the show for being family-friendly and heartwarming. The series is based on the best-selling novels of Lauren Brooke.

With season 17 just around the corner, many fans are eager to know if Heartland will be returning once again for an 18th season.

Will There be a Heartland Season 18?

Heartland has not yet been renewed for season 18. However, it is still early on for a renewal, as the show did not get picked up for a 17th season until May 2023, which has yet to premiere.

Though we can’t say for sure that Heartland will be renewed for season 18, it seems likely that it will. The show continues to be successful and there is no indication that it will end with 17 seasons.

Heartland Season 18 Potential Premiere Date

If the series follows the same pattern as the last season, it will likely be announced in May 2024 if the series will return another season. We would then likely expect to see season 18 premiere sometime in fall of 2024, though this is just speculation.

There is a good chance that season 18 will also come out in October like season 17 if it gets renewed. With the exception of season 16 which had 15 episodes, the last five seasons of Heartland all had 10 episodes. It is likely that season 18 would also have 10 episodes as well.

When Does Season 17 of Heartland Premiere?

Season 17 of Heartland premiered on October 1, 2023. The series will air on CBC and CBC Gem in Canada. The release date for the United States and other countries isn’t confirmed yet.

As episode one of season 17 marks the 250th episode of Heartland, a world premiere of the episode was held at the Calgary International Film Festival (CIFF) on Septmeber 28, 2023. After the screening, there was a live Q&A with Amber Marshall, Shaun Johnston, Michelle Morgan, and Chris Potter in-person.

An episode of Heartland will air every Sunday, with the season featuring a total of 10 episodes. However, those outside of Canada will have to wait some time before they can watch the family drama.

Season 16 of Heartland didn’t arrive on the streaming service UP Faith & Family until June 2023. It is likely that season 17 won’t arrive on the streaming service until June 2024 or late. Unfortunately, the streaming service CBC Gem is not available outside of Canada.

Synopsis for Season 17

The official synopsis of season 17 reads: “In Season 17, Amy (Amber Marshall) and the rest of the Heartland family know better than most that while dreams can sometimes come true, more often life takes us in unexpected directions. The new season is all about embracing the unexpected. It’s about new experiences and taking the path less traveled. In Season 17 the Bartlett-Fleming family will find themselves excited for the future and ready to embrace new adventures, challenges, and relationships. But no matter how much things may change, Amy, Lou (Michelle Morgan), Jack (Shaun Johnston), and Tim (Chris Potter) will continue to fight for what they believe in while staying rooted in the land that has been in the Bartlett-Fleming family for generations.”
