Grey’s Anatomy Season 20: Meredith romance with Nick
The medical drama series is slated to premiere on March 14 on ABC and will be available to stream on Hulu
“I want to live a whole life and love with you,” says Scott Speedman’s Nick Marsh to Ellen Pompeo’s Meredith Grey in the teaser of medical drama series Grey’s Anatomy Season 20, which marks the latter’s return to Grey-Sloan Memorial Hospital following her recent exit from the show.
Dropped by ABC channel on Wednesday night, the teaser hints at Nick and Meredith’s blossoming romance and also focuses on new interns facing challenges like being threatened by their superiors, their difficulties with sobriety and a wedding ceremony gone wrong. It also shows Kim Raver’s cardiothoracic surgeon Dr Altman going into a coma.
Nick first appeared on the show in Season 14 as a transplant surgeon, impressing Meredith with his passion for medicine. They started dating in season 18 but faced immense challenges in their relationship.
Grey’s Anatomy Season 20, which will only include 10 episodes due to production shortage, is going to deal with Dr Richard Webber’s past addiction. While Nick and Meredith fall in love, Dr Jo Wilson and Dr Lucas Adam also begin a new romance after the latter’s confession.
Created by Shonda Rhimes, Grey’s Anatomy follows the lives, careers and relationships of surgical residents, attending physicians and staff at Grey Sloan Memorial Hospital in Seattle. Led by the resilient and talented Dr Meredith Grey, the series explores the workplace dynamics of medical professionals.
Running since 2005, Grey’s Anatomy is ABC channel’s longest-running Primetime scripted series. Its latest season is slated to premiere on March 14 on ABC and will be available to stream on Hulu.
Grey’s Anatomy Season 20 Trailer Teases Popular Character’s Fate
Grey’s Anatomy returns for Season 20 in March and now, a new trailer for the upcoming season is teasing the fate of Teddy Altman (Kim Raver) after she collapsed in the operating room during the Season 19 finale. In the trailer, which you can see for yourself in the video below, Winston (Anthony Hill) comments that Teddy is in “critical condition”, though exactly what is causing Teddy’s issue has yet to be revealed — other than the toothache she complained of in the season finale.
The trailer also serves to remind that Ellen Pompeo’s Meredith Grey will be returning for at least part of Season 20. Pompeo departed as a series regular in Season 19. When Pompeo departed Grey’s as a series regular, she said that she’d be making some appearances. She also revealed some frustrations with playing Meredith for so long.
“When you stay on a show and with a character that long…for me, I really need to make sense of things and I really need to see evolution and growth,” Pompeo said. “And with network television specifically, there has to be some consistency for the audience. The audience wants familiarity. The writers get stuck in the consistency of something, and it’s harder, which I always would argue against and say, ‘We have such an incredible fan base. They’re so loyal. They’ll literally come along with us no matter what we do.’ I think it’s okay for Meredith to stop making bad decisions.”
When Does Grey’s Anatomy Return For Season 20?
Grey’s Anatomy is scheduled to return for its 20th season on Thursday, March 14th at 9 p.m. ET. Season 19 ended earlier this year on a massive cliffhanger with the fate of Teddy Altman (Kim Raver) in jeopardy after Teddy collapsed just as she was about to open up a patient for emergency surgery. While what exactly happens to Teddy is likely to be revealed in the Season 20 premiere, shortly after the finale it was reported that Raver had signed on for another season of the series.
Grey’s Anatomy Is Coming to Disney+
It was recently announced that all 19 seasons of Grey’s Anatomy are headed to Disney+ in March. Beginning in Spring 2024, Hulu and Netflix are set to share the co-exclusive streaming rights for Grey’s Anatomy. It’s part of a new licensing deal between Disney Entertainment and Netflix. The arrival of Grey’s Anatomy will coincide with the official launch of Hulu on Disney+ with Hulu having not just the long-running drama’s previous 19 seasons available to stream, but will also have new, in-season episodes of Season 20 for streaming following their broadcast on ABC.
