Giovanni Mazza Joins GH as Brook Lynn’s Cousin Gio – New Love Interest in Port Charles
General Hospital (GH) spoilers reveal that a new face is set to make a big debut during the week of May 13-17. As Brook Lynn Quartermaine (Amanda Setton) prepares to tie the knot with Harrison Chase (Josh Swickard), she’ll welcome several family members to town – including a cousin who’ll play the violin at her wedding.
Deadline confirms that cousin’s name is Giovanni Cerullo and that he’ll be played by Giovani Mazza, so this is certainly exciting casting news.
Of course, there have already been some behind-the-scenes leaks related to Brook Lynn’s wedding guest list, so we’ve been hearing about “Gio” being in attendance.
It sounds like it’ll be “Gio” for short – at least to the people who know Giovanni pretty well.
This is Giovanni Mazza’s first soap appearance, but you might recognize him from other projects like Bella and the Bulldogs, First String, Game of Talents and various independent films.
It’ll be fun to see how Gio shakes up the canvas, especially if he finds a reason to stick around after the wedding and becomes a new love interest in Port Charles.
Josslyn Jacks (Eden McCoy) still loves Dex Heller (Evan Hofer) and remains drawn to him, but things have been complicated since their breakup.
How will Dex feel if handsome Giovanni starts flirting with Josslyn and leaves her intrigued?
Gio could serve as competition for Dex and perhaps leave Josslyn thinking she could actually move on.
Josslyn might fall for Giovanni depending on the direction that GH writers have in mind for their characters.
We should also consider Trina Robinson (Tabyana Ali) as a romantic possibility for Gio.
Trina is still grieving Spencer Cassadine (Nicholas Alexander Chavez) and has been struggling to see a path forward, but Giovanni might be the light at the end of the tunnel!
Curtis Ashford (Donnell Turner) tried to convince Trina that she could find love again – and maybe Gio will eventually try to convince Trina of that, too.
Regardless, Giovanni Mazza will bring his real-life violin skills to the show as Gio wows everyone at Brook Lynn and Chase’s wedding ceremony, so he’ll prove he’s more than just a pretty face right off the bat.
