General Hospital (GH) spoilers reveal that fans are already growing curious about Giovanni “Gio” Palmieri’s (Giovanni Mazza) father. The show dropped some hints during the wedding festivities when Gio admitted his dad served in Afghanistan, but he supposedly passed away before Gio was born.
Of course, the Afghanistan and military connections immediately left some viewers speculating that Drew Cain (Cameron Mathison) might be Gio’s biological father.
It’s an option to consider if GH writers want to give Drew another long-lost child.
However, Drew already had a similar story with Oscar Nero Quartermaine (Garren Stitt), so do we really need to see them do it again with Gio?
Plus, Drew has a lot going on with his Nina Reeves (Cynthia Watros) quid pro quo, Jordan Ashford (Tanisha Harper) flirtations and new political ambitions, so he’s got plenty of drama happening without adding any Gio surprises.
Perhaps we should mull over other bio dad candidates as well since there’s no guarantee Gio’s mother told him the truth.
What if Gio’s mom simply wanted to let Gio think his dad died a military hero as part of a cover-up?
There have been rumblings in the past about the show wanting to give Dante Falconeri (Dominic Zamprogna) a long-lost son, so maybe he fathered Gio and never knew the real story.
It’s easy to imagine Dante and Gio developing a nice bond if a father-son relationship comes to light.
A third bio dad option might be Cody Bell (Josh Kelly), especially since this kind of storyline could put him in Mac Scorpio’s (John J. York) shoes.
Mac is Cody’s biological father, but Cody is choosing to keep him in the dark on the true DNA results.
If Cody finds out Gio’s mom kept him in the dark too, he’ll understand the pain of a secret like that and might realize the importance of coming clean to Mac.
Whatever the case, there’s a good chance that Gio is wrong about his father being gone forever.
Gio’s real dad might be alive and living in Port Charles, so we’ll bring you more predictions on any shocking news that might be headed his way.
