GH’s Cassandra James Opens up on Her Birthday
Birthdays aren’t just a time for parties, cake, and presents. Marking another trip around the sun can also be a time for personal introspection as you look at where you’ve come from and where you’re headed. And that’s just what General Hospital actress Cassandra James (Terry) did on July 17 when she posted some new headshots on Instagram for her birthday.
“New chapters and new beginnings,” she wrote. “I’ve been reflecting the last few days on what to say to punctuate this birthday milestone. I’m writing this in Toronto, one of my hometowns I’m returning to for the first time in two years. And I’m realizing just how wildly transformational the last two years have been. How heavy the grief. What a battle homecoming can be. How fractured a sense of self can become in the process of healing.
“And yet, despite it all, defying the odds brings a new sense of power, of peace,” James continued. “Today, on my birthday, I feel like I can trust myself again, that I am deeply prepared now for life’s inevitable storms. That I can be free to try to fail, to fly, and every aspect of myself, every lesson I’ve learned I will carry with me. Don’t worry, Cassandra. I’ve got you. And that is nothing to underestimate.”
James made daytime history when she joined the cast of GH as Liz’s old college pal, Dr. Terry Randolph, back in June 2018. She became the very first transgender actress to portray a trans character on a daytime soap. And when she’s not in Port Charles, James has done some moonlighting in episodes of Diggstown (which starred former GH castmate Vinessa Antoine (ex-Jordan)) and Sort Of (the award-winning Max series in which she plays the recurring role of Olympia). Fans can also check her out as Zoe in the holiday film A Christmas Sunset.
Please join us in wishing James a very happy birthday and all the best for her next trip around the sun!
