General Hospital fans recently saw Jack Brennan get a brand new face. Following the departure of Charles Mesure, actor Chris McKenna will take on the role. Recently, General Hospital co-star Laura Wright has opened up about McKenna joining the soap.
Laura Wright Made Sure To Note Charles Mesure Wasn’t Forgotten
Mesure first took on the role of Jack Brennan on General Hospital back in 2023. However, it was recently announced that he would be leaving the role.
Since then, it was announced that actor Chris McKenna, who himself has a history in soaps, would be taking on the role. While many fans would miss seeing Mesure in the role, one of McKenna’s new cast mates made it clear that they were happy to see him.
As noted by Soaps In Depth, actress Laura Wright, who joined the soap as Carly Corinthos back in 2005, recently praised McKenna in a recent post on social media. She also spoke with fans about the cast change.
Recently taking to X, formerly Twitter, Wright shared, “Big love to Charles.” She continued, “And a big welcome to Chris McKenna! And a big hug to all the fans — we love you so much and we are so grateful for you all.”
Wright made doubly sure to highlight that Mesure wasn’t forgotten. When one fan shared they would miss the previous Jack Brennan, Wright was quick to assure that he would be missed.
Wright Has Known Chris McKenna Since The 1990s
As Wright noted, “Oh, we were all sad to see Charles go — we all adored him! And we wish him so much love. We are so grateful and excited that Chris is part of the GH family!”
Wright and McKenna have actually known each other for years. After all, both got their start in New York-based soap operas in the 1990s. Around the same time, Wright played Ally on Loving while McKenna played Joey on One Life to Live.
In reference to McKenna, Wright was also quoted as saying, “He’s a keeper!” She also shared, “I’m just super grateful for the opportunity to work with these amazing actors. We show up every day bringing our best for you all!”
As previously reported, Mckenna himself has also discussed joining the soap. While speaking with TV Line, he noted, “This is the type of character that I’ve been playing a lot the past decade, but a new version. I don’t usually play the guy in the suit.”
“I’m in a tank top in the jungle, that kind of a CIA agent. So, this is a fun little twist on it, the more Bond-ian guy, if you will.”
