GH Alum Anthony Geary Celebrates His Anniversary!

Love is in the air, and not just because Valentine’s Day is approaching! General Hospital star Anthony Geary (ex-Luke) and his husband, Claudio Gama, are celebrating their anniversary! “Tony and I met 30 years ago in February,” Gama shared on Instagram, “and got married six years ago, also in February. Two anniversaries to celebrate.”

The happy couple, who reside in Amsterdam, enjoyed a small get-together to celebrate with friends complete with champagne and pizza. “Our anniversary is in full party mode,” Gama reported. “Good friends, nice booze, and pizza. It’s mid-week, [so] I decided not to cook. I will have a big dinner on the weekend, then more people can join.”

After making appearances in episodes of primetime series like All in the Family, The Mod Squad, and The Streets of San Francisco, Geary became a soap star when he joined the cast of GH in 1978 to play Luke Spencer. What was meant to be a short-term run lasted for decades and Luke’s romance with Laura created one of daytime’s most iconic supercouples.

After coming and going from the soap over the decades — and racking up 16 Daytime Emmy Award nominations and eight wins — Geary announced in 2015 that he had decided to retire. He last aired in July of that year, though he made a cameo appearance in May 2017 when Jane Elliot (Tracy) left the canvas.

Geary then left Hollywood to retire in his home in the Netherlands. “Amsterdam is a city of amazing qualities,” he told Soaps In Depth. “Cobblestone streets designed 400 years ago for walking and cycling, tree-lined canals and quirky historical buildings, people from all over the world wishing you a good morning in every conceivable language… I love it here.”

That home is even more special since he shares it with his spouse. Please join us in wishing them a very happy anniversary!
