General Hospital (GH) spoilers reveal that Jason Morgan’s (Steve Burton) comeback will affect plenty of characters, but there’s one we want to take a moment to focus on. Sam McCall (Kelly Monaco) is arguably Jason’s true love and shares a child with him, so their forever connection is going to be important moving forward.

Back in October 2023, Kelly Monaco opened up to SOD about Sam’s relationships as part of a section to celebrate her 20th GH anniversary.

In that interview, Monaco suggested that Jason and Sam were “always the end game” in her mind.

Monaco also called Jason the love of Sam’s life and made it clear that they’d never love other people the way they loved each other.

We also couldn’t help but notice that Monaco was part of Steve Burton’s initial return announcement, which aired at the end of the show’s 60th anniversary primetime special in January.

They could’ve just had Laura Wright (Carly Spencer) handle things on her own, but they included Monaco as well – perhaps to hint about a potential love triangle that might be brewing for Carly, Jason and Sam.

Regardless, things may never truly be over for good between Sam and Jason.

That’s especially true now that Sam’s missing Jason more than usual and worrying about Danny Morgan’s (Asher Jared Antonyzyn) growing up to be a risktaker like his father.

It’s easy to feel the shift in Sam’s material – like she’s already being pulled in Jason’s direction ahead of his imminent return.

Sam’s romance with Dante Falconeri (Dominic Zamprogna) is sweet and perfectly fine as a filler relationship, but it certainly can’t compete with the love Jason and Sam have shared over the years.

There was a time when Sam McCall was front and center on the show, but she’s been on the backburner in recent years – in part thanks to her happy yet mostly dull life with Dante.

Jason’s return could change that and put Sam at the heart of the action again.

This should give Kelly Monaco a chance to shine and lead to an exciting new story for Sam as Jason comes back into the picture.
