General Hospital, in true soap opera tradition, often comes up with all sorts of love stories for its fans. Of course, once a couple ends up together, that’s often when the real drama starts up. Recently, the soap’s head writers have given fans clues on what will happen to three couples as the show goes on.
Three Port Charles Couples Could Be In For A Surprise
Chris Van Etten and Elizabeth Korte are head writers on the soap. Van Etten was promoted to head writer back in 2017. For her part, Korte became a head writer for the series back in 2024.
The two have often shared clues with fans on what they could expect from the series. Most recently, the two teased a few things about what will happen with a few couples on the show.
Talking with Soap Opera Digest, the two shared previews on what will happen with three couples in particular. These were Trina and Kai, Jason and Sasha, and Lucky and Elizabeth.
After Spencer Cassadine was presumed dead, Trina has mourned him for over a year. However, she has since been growing closer with Kai.
As the writers noted, “Kai has upended Trina’s world.” They continued, “When he came into her life, she was still grieving Spencer, with little reason to think she was close to moving on. Kai changed all that. He’s handsome, charismatic, sensitive — and so far as she knows, has no baggage whatsoever… except for a dream he can’t quite let go of.”
A Figure With An Ulterior Motive Could Spell Trouble For Kai (& Trina)
A medical procedure may also allow Kai a second chance at playing football. However, it could lead to more drama, especially as another character, it was teased, could have an ulterior motive to help.
The writers added, “This opportunity comes with strings attached, and those strings may drag Kai and Trina into a conflict that isn’t theirs. One that could destroy them just as they’re getting started.”
Meanwhile, Sasha is pregnant with the missing Michael’s baby and is finding herself drawn to Jason. As the writers teased, “Sasha’s baby represents a dynamic intersection of Port Charles history and bloodlines. Her baby is at once a Scorpio, a Quartermaine, a Spencer, and a (spiritually speaking) Corinthos. Sasha knows this — and knows that what becomes of her baby will be of great interest to all of those clans.”
This is something Jason knows full well. The writers noted, “In his final moments in Port Charles, Michael charged Jason with looking after Sasha and her baby — though he didn’t exactly request that Jason assume paternity of the baby.”
Unexpected Mishaps Could Be On The Horizon, Even When Things Seem To Be Working Out
“The misapprehension caused by Cody will have fallout across the canvas — and even to those not on it. Should it come out, the truth about the baby’s paternity could have big ramifications for Drew and Willow’s struggle against the Quartermaines — and Carly — for the futures of Wiley and Amelia.”
Jason will be there to support Sasha. However, the writers warned that “coming together with Sasha in this way may result in unanticipated complications for them both…”
Finally, Elizabeth and Lucky’s fairy tale romance has already been complicated from things ranging from brainwashing to infidelity. However, his return has seen the two reconnect.
The writers noted that old feelings are bound to resurface. As they shared, “An ex turns up at a vulnerable moment and suddenly you’re caught in nostalgia, old feelings masquerading as new ones. Liz and Lucky are different. Neither has ever loved another like they’ve loved each other. Their feelings for each other are as vibrant now as they ever were. It’s just that fate always intervened.”
The two also teased drama in spite of the two’s history. As they noted, “They ought to have smooth sailing… emphasis on ‘ought.’” They teased, “Just as they’re getting back on track, Liz and Lucky may face another obstacle when another ex’s story threatens to collide with theirs….”
