General Hospital fans are saddened to learn of the passing of Monica Quartermaine portrayer Leslie Charleson. Her character has not been seen on screen in over a year since the actress was dealing with health issues. Sadly Leslie Charleson passed away at age 79 on January 12, 2025. She is a soap opera legend and will be missed.
Now GH writers will be tasked with penning a fitting farewell to the iconic character. They’ll undoubtedly have to deal with who will inherit the Quartermaine mansion. Continue reading to see whom Monica will bequeath ownership.
General Hospital: Monica Quartermaine Owns The Mansion
GH watchers are very aware that the Quartermaine mansion belongs to Monica. Although many might have thought Edward and Lila Quartermaine owned it, it is owned by Monica. Alan Quartermaine bought the mansion as a wedding present for his wife. It’s a running joke and a sore spot between many of the Quartermaines. Monica often took delight in reminding her kin that it’s her house.
The Quartermaine generation home on General Hospital has been owned by Monica for nearly fifty years. Since the iconic portrayer has passed most likely the character will follow suit. With so many family members residing at the mansion, it will be curious to see whom Monica passed ownership to.
GH: Monica To Choose Between Her Two Adoptive Sons
General Hospital spoilers remind Monica Quartermaine has outlived all her biological children. However, her two adoptive twin sons, Jason Morgan (Steve Burton) and Drew Quartermaine (Cameron Matherson), are both currently living at the family home. Drew’s paternity is more recently learned but Monica was determined to make him feel part of the family. Since she raised Jason from birth until his late teens, he has a special place in her heart. Monica could easily leave the home to either of Alan’s sons.
GH fans were thrilled when Jason decided to move back “home”. Now that the prodigal son is there perhaps Monica makes it legally his upon her death. This could spark further tension in the already strained relationship between Jason and Drew. Still, this decision certainly keeps Jason in the family fold and allows the house to pass to one of Alan’s children.
General Hospital: Monica Passes The Torch to Tracy Quartermaine
GH watchers love the relationship between Monica Quartermaine and her former sister-in-law Tracy Quartermaine (Jane Elliot). The two have finally reached a point in their relationship where they are more like best friends or sisters, not the adversaries they once were in their younger days. Tracy is the most outspoken and sore about Alan leaving/buying the house for Monica.
Of course, she feels the family home should be hers. Now with Monica’s likely passing, Monica may decide to pass not only the role of Q family matriarch but also ownership of the family’s generational estate to Tracy.
Many General Hospital fans see Tracy’s oldest son, Ned Quartermaine (Wally Kurth), and his wife Olivia Falconeri (Lisa LoCicero), as the next “Edward and Lila”. So if Monica does choose Tracy to inherit the mansion, it’s then likely in turn when she passes she will leave the home to Ned. Hopefully Monica’s death and who she leaves the house to unites the family and doesn’t create further infighting. It will certainly be interesting to learn who Monica selects.
