‘General Hospital’ Shock Twist: Lucky Spencer Returns with a Brand-New Face!

Lucky Spencer recently made his return to Port Charles. However, the General Hospital character is looking a bit different in recent episodes. Fans are wondering if the character has been recast or if something else is going on. Notably, some soap opera fans might have already recognized the new Lucky.
Jonathan Jackson First Took On The Role In 1993
The son of Luke and Laura Spencer, Lucky Spencer has been a part of the soap since 1985, when the character’s birth was announced. Jonathan Jackson first took on the role in 1993.
Over the years, various actors have played the role, including Jacob Young and Greg Vaughan. However, Jackson returned to the soap as Lucky in 2009.

As noted by Monsters & Critics, Jackson most recently returned to the role a few months ago. However, the character has recently gotten a new, if familiar, face.
In recent episodes, Lucky is being played by Guy Wilson. However, Wilson shouldn’t be a stranger to soap opera fans, especially General Hospital fans.
This Isn’t Guy Wilson’s First Time On General Hospital
Wilson had previously played a teenage version of Luke Spencer on General Hospital back in 2006. This was during a fantasy sequence in which Tracy imagined meeting him as a teenager.
Now, Wilson will play the character’s son. In addition, he also played Will Horton on Days of Our Lives from 2014 to 2015, before Chandler Massey returned to the role.
The timing is notable, as the switch is taking place in time for February sweeps. However, Soap Opera Digest confirmed the switch to be temporary.
A spokesperson confirmed Wilson would only be in a couple of episodes. Jackson is expected to return later in the month.
Monsters & Critics also mused that Jackson could be sick or simply needed time off. It was also confirmed that Jackson has already resumed filming for the series, meaning viewers will see him back as Lucky soon.
Currently, Lucky and Elizabeth are on the verge of exposing Cyrus for his crimes. At this time, fans suspect the story will also further explore Lucky and Elizabeth’s relationship. After all, they were both each other’s first love.
At this time, it’s unclear just how much Lucky’s recasting will impact this storyline. However, Jackson could possibly return to the soap before the end of the month.
Wilson is also known for appearing in shows like S.W.A.T., Bosch: Legacy, and NCIS: Los Angeles. As Digest noted, the actor previously compared his soap opera work to athletics. As Wilson noted, “Like baseball, appearing on a soap is a long season and everyone is working together and you develop a camaraderie.”
