General Hospital: Shannon Peace Leaves Behind A Legacy
Recently, General Hospital bid farewell to one of its talented writers, Shannon Peace. After nearly three years and a whopping 106 episodes, Peace announced her departure from the iconic soap opera.
Shannon went on Instagram to say thank you for her time at General Hospital. She described her experience as an “education of epic proportions.” She was happy to become a member of the Writers Guild of America (WGA) while working on a show that means a lot to many people.
While working there, Shannon helped create characters and stories that kept viewers interested. She was part of a team nominated for big awards, like the Daytime Emmy Awards and Writers Guild Awards.
What makes Shannon’s work special is her focus on including everyone. The former General Hospital writer was the only Black writer in the room and the only person of color (POC). And she made sure that important conversations about characters and their backgrounds should be voiced.
General Hospital’s former writer, Shannon, thanked the old head writers, Dan O’Connor and Chris Van Etten, for letting her share her ideas. She also thanked the fans for being so supportive. Especially for noticing her love for the ‘Sprina’ relationship, even though she wished she could have explored it more.
With all the challenges in the TV industry, like a big strike by writers, Shannon hopes General Hospital will continue to value writers’ work and consider different points of view. She wants it to be successful for many more years.
