General Hospital Fans Fire Back Over Fatal Sam & Dex Explanation – Two Characters Who Should Still Be Alive
General Hospital (GH) spoilers reveal that fans were finally given some answers about Cyrus Renault’s (Jeff Kober) motives for wiping out his victims. In the February 19 episode, Jeff Kober delivered a powerful performance as Cyrus explained his reasons to Elizabeth Baldwin (Rebecca Herbst).
Cyrus believed he was doing God’s work by ending the suffering of certain patients – including Lulu Spencer (Alexa Havins Bruening).
Since Cyrus couldn’t predict Lulu would make a miraculous recovery, he basically wanted to help her along to heaven.
Of course, Sam McCall’s (Kelly Monaco) liver donation got in the way.
Cyrus felt that Sam was prolonging Lulu’s suffering by saving her life, so he insisted Sam’s demise was a “consequence of her obstructing the Lord’s will.”
As for Dex Heller (Evan Hofer), he was a witness who knew too much and could’ve blown Cyrus’ plan.
Cyrus went after Dex because in his mind, nothing was more important than preserving the mission he believes God gave him.
It’s clear that Cyrus has a warped and dangerous perspective, but at least we finally know more about what’s been going on inside his head.
However, that doesn’t mean this explanation is a satisfying one – especially for viewers who are stuck missing Sam and Dex.
On social media, plenty of fans have been firing back at the show for killing off Dex and Sam without a good enough excuse.
It’s sad to think that Sam faced a grim fate because she was trying to give Lulu such a selfless gift.
Cyrus punished Sam for that, so it’s easy to see why GH watchers are so riled up.
Dex certainly didn’t deserve to die either, but Cyrus wiped him off the map for the threat he posed.
As far as many viewers are concerned, both Dex and Sam should still be alive right now!
