Chad Duell Exits General Hospital After 14 Years
It has been a rough year for General Hospital and its viewers. First, Kelly Monaco was fired from the show as Sam McCall after over two decades with the series. It made fans question if the show was even worth watching anymore. They were starting petitions left and right and demanded that she be rehired. Sadly, her character was killed off and it broke so many hearts. On the upside, Jonathan Jackson returned as Lucky Spencer so that has appeased the fanbase. Now, Chad Duell, who has played Michael Corinthos since 2010 announced his departure from the soap opera.
He joined the show in April 2010 as the third Michael Corinthos, the son of A.J. Quartermaine and Carly Corinthos. However, Michael had been adopted by Sonny Corinthos and has been a standout character for years. As for Chad, he was nominated seven times for Daytime Emmy Awards, winning one in 2015 for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Drama Series. He is not only close to his soap mother, Laura Wright but also his soap father, Maurice Benard. Chad appeared on his podcast, State of Mind more than once and has been candid about his life. Now, he is sharing some hard news for fans to swallow.
Along with a General Hospital cast photo, the father to Dawson, 1, revealed that he has made the tough choice to leave the show. Chad Duell shared this news on his Instagram alongside a powerful but heartbreaking message. He explained that the timing felt right to leave and he further thanked all of the fans. Finally, Chad noted that this was not a goodbye but rather a “see you later.”
