Gregory Harrison, who endeared himself to General Hospital fans of the late Gregory Chase, is marking the anniversary of a very good friend’s passing. The actor was dear pals with the late Treat Williams, star of Everwood and movies including The Deep End of the Ocean.

Goodbye, My Friend

“It’s been a difficult year without my pal Treat as a touchstone,” Harrison wrote on Facebook about the late Williams who died on June 12, 2023, after sustaining injuries from a motorcycle accident. “But I keep reminding myself how lucky I was to have him for as long as I did. Miss you, Brother.”

Last year, one day before Father’s Day, Harrison wrote about Williams in more detail on social media. “Tomorrow is Father’s Day,” the former Trapper John, M.D. actor posted. “I’ll be in the air most of the day flying to Vermont to join others in celebrating and burying as good a father and man as I’ve ever been blessed to know.

“Treat Williams was my trusted friend, confidante, advisor, acting partner, golf buddy, occasional roommate, unpaid chef/pilot/chauffeur, cheerleader, and a host of other duties that were above and beyond the call of any normal friendship,” wrote Harrison of the man he shared screentime with as TV brothers on Hallmark’s Chesapeake Shores.

“In the 23 years that we referred to ourselves as ‘brothers from other mothers,’ I learned not only what an extraordinary man Treat was, but also a new definition of what ‘friendship’ really means,” the actor continued.

“Generous, loyal, unrelenting and insistent, Treat demanded, and gave, a kind of loving attention I’d been unfamiliar with. It’s just who he was. Bigger than life, and full of fire. A passion and ‘joie de vivre,’ a huge heart, uncompromising ethics, a belief in the goodness of others, and a ravenous appreciation for the simplest things in life,” Gregory Harrison added.

“But Treat’s love for his family far eclipsed everything and everyone else. The countless times in our conversations he professed his devotion to beautiful Pam and to his son Gil and his sweet daughter Ellie…including on the phone with me last week, the night before he so tragically died,” the actor shared.

“So, while we are all honoring our fathers tomorrow, please take a moment to remember the incredible father and man that Treat was, and the inspiration he will continue to be to those of us who knew and loved him,” Harrison concluded.
