‘General Hospital’ Actor Pronounced Dead At 83

News has come out that an actor known for his work on General Hospital has passed away this past Monday. The actor had a notable career in film, stage, and television. He was 83 at the time of his death.

The Actor Appeared In A Variety Of Soaps Over The Years, Including General Hospital & Ryan’s Hope

The actor’s death, which took place this past Monday, was confirmed by a New Jersey funeral home. Notably, he had appeared in a variety of projects over the years, including General Hospital in the 1990s.

John Capodice was a veteran actor who had a career spanning decades. He had been 83 at the time of his death. At this time, his cause of death has not been revealed.

As noted by TMZ, Capodice was born on Christmas Day in Chicago in 1941. Before getting into acting, he served in the U.S. Army in Korea. He later moved to New York City, starting his career through Off-Broadway productions.

Capodice’s first television role was on the soap opera Ryan’s Hope in 1978. Other soaps he appeared in included Another World, Melrose Place, and As The World Turns. In the mid-1990s, he notably appeared in the recurring role of Carmine Cerullo on General Hospital.

Other series Capodice appeared in included SeinfeldMoonlighting, and Will & Grace. In 2024, he also notably appeared in a few episodes of the streaming series, Conversation with Mobster.

Capodice also notably appeared in quite a few prominent films over the years. These include SpeedWall StreetIndependence Day, and Ace Ventura: Pet Detective.

In the latter, Capodice had a notable role as a police detective who insults the title character played by Jim Carrey. Notably, Capodice recently appeared at Contropolis New Jersey to meet with Ace Ventura fans.

Capodice also notably served as a voice actor in various animated shows and video games over the years. Some notable title include Superman: The Animated SeriesTeenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem, and the Mafia II video game.

As the publication noted, passing was also confirmed by the Pizzi Funeral Home in New Jersey. The following statement was shared: “John Capodice, 83, of Blauvelt, NY, formerly of Los Angeles, CA and Chicago, IL, passed away on Monday, December 30, 2024.”

“Beloved husband of Jane (nee Crawley). Cherished father of Tessa De Pierro and her husband Joseph and Cassandra Hansen and her husband Dave. Proud grandfather of David, Jake, Frankie and Giuliana. Dear brother of Kathy Magluilo and Patti Lindsay.”

The statement noted, “John was a devoted husband, father and grandfather and will be missed by all who had the pleasure to meet him.” It was also mentioned that the actor “was also a proud member of the Blauvelt Sons of Italy Rockland Lodge 2176.”

In addition to a viewing on January 11 at the funeral home, a mass is to be held for Capodice the following day at Our Lady of the Sacred Heart RC Church in New York. His family also requested donations be made in his name to Rockland Homes.
