Michael Corinthos is a main character in several storylines on General Hospital right now. But the character hasn’t been seen on screen since January. Chad Duell Exits General Hospital
Chad Duell wasn’t the only actor to play Michael Corinthos, but he was on the soap the longest. He portrayed Carly (Laura Wright) and the late AJ’s son from 2010 until 2025. While Michael’s bio father is AJ, he considers Sonny Corinthos (Maurice Benard) his dad.
Chad Duell announced in November 2024 that he was leaving the ABC soap after fifteen years. He had taken several absences in recent years, forcing the show to bring in actor Robert Adamson as a temporary replacement.
Michael was written off-screen in January to seek burn treatment after getting caught in a fire. The departure came right as the storyline involving Michael was heating up. As fans know, Sasha (Sofia Mattsson) is pregnant with Michael’s baby after a one-night stand. However, Jason Morgan (Steve Burton) is covering for Sasha by pretending to be the baby’s father.
The moment of passion between Michael and Sasha came on the heels of him discovering that his wife, Willow (Katelyn MacMullen) was having an affair with Drew (Cameron Mathison.)
Fans Think It’s Time To Recast
Chad Duell left the role to focus on his family after recently losing his father. The door has reportedly been left open for him to return someday, but fans think it’s time to recast Michael now. They shared their thoughts on social media about bringing Michael back to Port Charles.
- “I feel like the story was suppose to be Michael/Sasha vs Drew/Willow… Sasha is in a holding pattern with Jason filling in until Michael gets back. The real custody battle is basically on hold.”
- “I love Chad Duell but I agree. They need a recast, at least a temporary one.”
- “They can delay this for maybe 6months but after that they’d need to bring him back.”
- “I agree, the character is too pivotal to stay gone. I would prefer Chad but would welcome a recast. Perhaps Darin Brooks of B&B?”
- “You know I’m sure Robert Adamson is available. At least as a temporary recast. He can act. They need to call him.”
General Hospital Actor’s Angry Response To Michael Recast
It seems the fans hoping for Robert Adamson to return as Michael full-time will be sorely disappointed. The actor, who stepped into the role at the last minute several times, shared a shocking update on social media.
In a since-deleted tweet, Adamson vented about General Hospital not bringing him in to audition for the recast role.
“Thanks for having me in to read for the recast of Michael. Covered the role not once, not twice, but three times without notice or time to physically prepare. But I don’t even get an opportunity to read,” he wrote on social media.
If what he wrote is true, that means the show is actively recasting Michael Corinthos. Some fans want Drew Garrett, who played the role before Chad Duell took over, to return to the show. The actor recently reunited with TV dad, Maurice Benard, for an upcoming episode of Benard’s YouTube vlog State Of Mind.
