Scott Clifton has appeared in a variety of soaps. While fans have recently seen him as Liam on The Bold and the Beautiful, he got his big break on General Hospital. However, some fans suspect certain events on his current soap might soon see Clifton return to Port Charles.
Scott Clifton Has Been On General Hospital, One Life To Live, & The Bold And The Beautiful
As an actor, Clifton got his start on shows like Roswell and Judging Amy. He then moved on to a prominent career in soaps. From 2003 to 2007, Clifton played Dillon Quartermaine on General Hospital. Following his departure from the soap, the character was then played by Robert Palmer Watkins.
Following this, Clifton appeared on One Life to Live as Schuyler Joplin from 2009 to 2010. After this, he joined The Bold and the Beautiful as Liam Spencer, staying in the role since then.
However, some fans are starting to wonder if Clifton’s time on the soap could be coming to an end. Recent events on the soap have seen Liam suffer brain bleed after a fall, following an intense fight with his father Bill.
Clifton Once Spoke About What Would See Him Return To General Hospital
The condition, which Liam initially tries to keep secret, appears to worsen. Even after being told to stay hopeful, Liam’s own mortality still starts to weigh on him. Eventually, a diagnosis is given, “It’s inoperable. Terminal.” Liam also likely didn’t do his health any favors sneaking out to a Daddy-Daughter dance for Kelly.
With this news, it appears that Liam’s time on the soap will be soon coming to an end. Some fans suspect that, should the inevitable happen. Clifton could be returning to his Port Charles roots and rejoin the cast of General Hospital.
Back in 2011, according to Michael Fairman TV, Clifton spoke with TV Guide Canada’s Nelson Branco about whether he would be interested in returning to General Hospital. At the time, he shared, At the time, he said he wouldn’t “as long as I am on B&B.” However, he added, “If I were fired, and needed work, yes, I would come back to GH if they wanted me.” He also noted, “I think GH is a great show to work on but I prefer B&B, which may be selfish.”
Some Fans Suspect Liam’s Condition Could Lead To Another Storyline
While that was quite some time ago, Clifton could be interested in returning to General Hospital now that his run on The Bold and the Beautiful could be ending. However, there’s still the issue of whether Clifton is really leaving the soap.
However, even a serious diagnosis doesn’t necessarily mean death. It could be wrong. Some fans think the soap could use the story to set up another plot soaps are famous for: Liam could survive at the cost of his memories. This could have story potential considering his recent confrontation with his father. Liam could also think he’s still married to one of his former love-interests.
Added to that, death doesn’t mean the end of the character. Clifton could remain on the soap for a while as a ghost or in flashbacks. The character could somehow turn up alive anyway. However, if the soap is planning such a storyline, it’s likely Clifton would be still taking a break from the soap anyway. This would naturally give him time to appear in other projects.
It would also be timely for Dillon to make his return to Port Charles. General Hospital has been plagued with characters getting written off the soap over the past year. This means there’s plenty of room for a character’s comeback.
Ultimately, only time will tell what will happen on the soap. It’s entirely possible that Liam will get a last-minute miracle and survive the ordeal, keeping him on the show. Either way, fans need to stay tuned in to see what will happen.
