Dex Heller lost his life towards the end of last year on General Hospital. However, the character still haunts the series in many ways. Notably, some fans are questioning Dex’s family. In particular, many are still wondering who his father really was.
Quite A Few Characters Could Turn Out To Be Dex’s Father, According To Fans
On the soap, Dex Heller first debuted in 2022. The character was an army veteran and former police officer. Dex was also known for his romance with Josslyn Jacks.
However, Dex’s past was shrouded in mystery on the soap. Notably, fans often suspected the character would turn out to be another character’s long-lost son.
Towards the end of 2024, Dex tragically met his end. The character was stabbed while looking into Sam McCall’s death. However, while receiving treatment, an overdose of digitalis ended up giving him a fatal heart attack.
Despite this, fans still have questions about the character. In particular, they have been asking about his parentage. As Coming Soon noted, a few characters have already been considered candidates for Dex’s father.
One candidate was Jason Morgan, who hadn’t been seen in Port Charles for years and was presumed dead. However, his return in early 2024 started theories he was connected to Dex. As the publication noted, Jason’s absences made it all the more likely that Jason could have a child without knowing it.
Evan Hofer Himself Previously Talked About Dex’s Potential Father
However, another returning character has also been suspected of being Dex’s father. This would be Jagger, also known as John, Cates, who also returned to Port Charles following a long absence. Some also suspect he could have used knowledge of Dex’s true paternity to keep Jason away.
However, this is just the start of the fan-theories. Other possible fathers for Dex, according to fans, could be A.J. Quartermaine, Dante Falconeri, and Ric Lansing.
Before leaving the soap, Dex’s actor, Evan Hofer, also spoke with Soap Opera Digest about the speculation on the character’s parentage. At the time, he was asked about theories that Dex was Jagger’s son.
Hofer noted, “I have, yeah. And I keep seeing stuff, too, where people think that I’m Jason’s son, as well.”
The actor was then asked which character he would like to be Dex’s father. He shared, “Oh, gosh, everybody’s!”
“I’ve met [Adam Harrington, John] in passing, and he’s very kind, and I haven’t had any scenes with Steve [Burton, Jason], but I have hugged him at work. There are too many historical intricacies that I don’t understand to say [which fictional dad I’d prefer], but I just know whatever the writers decide in whatever cool way sounds good to me.”
