Kody Brown reveals why the Brown family has yet to break ground on the massive Coyote Pass project. Keep reading to find out what’s holding him up.

Sister Wives stars purchased 12-acre property in 2018

In 2018, the Brown family made a huge move. Kody and his four wives, plus their combined young children, moved from Nevada to Arizona. In the same year, the plural family purchased 12-acres of land to build their home on.

Kody’s original plan was to build one large home for all of his wives and children. However, the plan changed to individual homes for each of his four wives.

The massive plot of land sat vacant until earlier this year when Janelle Brown set up an RV on the property. Due to inclement weather, she no longer lives in the RV, but vows to return to RV living in the Spring.

Meanwhile, on a recent episode of the TLC show, the plural family divided up the land into lots, where the individual homes will be built.

The wives (and viewers) were shocked when Kody Brown revealed his intention to build a home for himself.

Furthermore, Season 16 was filmed in late 2020, and a lot of changes have happened to the family. Christine Brown announced her split from Kody in November of 2021.

So, the wives chose their respective lots on the vast property in 2020 – building should be complete or at least underway now, right? In Touch reported in October that the Browns have yet to file for the necessary building permits. What’s holding the project up?

According to the family patriarch, a lot. TLC shared a bonus clip on Facebook of Kody Brown breaking down his insane to-do list before building can get started.

The following things need to happen before the Browns can even break ground. In the clip, Kody lists a “seven layer process” necessary before the building can begin:

  • get water to each property
  • subdivide the land
  • pay off the property
  • gradient roads
  • level grade for cement slab foundations
  • put in septic systems
  • bring electricity

The Sister Wives star notes that the property has to be paid off before the land can be subdivided. So far, viewers have only seen one task completed: the delivery of the cistern water tank.

Will fans see the project’s completion on the TLC show?

With all the work left to do on the Coyote Pass project, will fans see it completed? Likely not in Season 16. If TLC continues following the Brown family, hopefully viewers will see Kody and his wives settle into the Flagstaff property.
