General Hospital fans have seen TJ Ashford grow and change throughout the years. However, some fans are starting to worry they may have seen the last of the character. Taking to social media, these fans are questioning why this could happen, while guessing what the soap is planning to do next.
Fans Watched TJ & Molly’s Relationship On General Hospital For Years
TJ Ashford has been part of the soap since 2012. Tthe character was introduced as a teenager who was taken in by Shawn Butler, a friend of his late father, who he also killed in combat.
Over the years, TJ would become especially known for his relationship with Molly Lansing. By 2021, the two would become civil partners.
The two would especially become known for their attempts to have children, though both surrogacies appeared to end in tragedy. This, in turn, wound up impacting Molly and TJ’s relationship.
Following this, fans are starting to worry for TJ. Taking to Reddit, one fan asked, “How long is TJ gonna stay missing?”
As the fan continued, “They broke up his pairing and now they don’t know what to do with him. He can’t be on to save a life at the hospital or have dinner with friends cause they made Molly his whole world, so without her he’s irrelevant.”
One fan shared that they felt this could be due to issues with TJ’s current performer, Tah Bellow. As the noted, “I read that his contract is up this month. Therefore, I think we will know for sure either way in a few weeks.”
The fan also shared that they felt the soap didn’t know what to do with its younger male characters. As they continued, “I don’t like how they write the young men on this show. They won’t allow them to be too strong or tough and they aren’t allowed to be too smart.”
Some Fans Think General Hospital Is Already Setting Up TJ’s Replacement
“Yet, I remember more balance when I watched soaps 20 years ago. That kind of writing just doesn’t appeal to me at all. The men under 40 for the most part are not well written.”
Other fans shared similar concerns in the comments. Some thought other characters were already being set up to take TJ’s place on the soap. Others were concerned how TJ’s absence could impact other characters.
However, some fans acknowledged that they still liked TJ and would be sad to see him go. Some of these comments included:
- “Unfortunately, I wonder if he is gone. I think we will find out in a few weeks for sure. I have a feeling Dr. Gannon was brought in to take his place.”
- “Such a shame when the hospital is so short on doctors. And he’s Jordan’s son, is she just not going to notice that he’s gone? I’ve been enjoying the show more but I‘ll be annoyed if he doesn’t show up again soon.”
- “He disappeared like Taggert and Felix did and will be somewhere offscreen unless they decide the surrogate didn’t have a miscarriage and will introduce their child in ~15 years.”
- “TJ hardly had stories for years, and sadly if it weren’t for the surrogacy storyline I’m sure he wouldn’t have been on as much last year. It’s like the writers knew they had to recast Molly and remembered that TJ existed. But I do hope that TJ returns with his own storyline or is seen working at the hospital”
- “I always liked TJ. They wrote him terribly during the surrogacy crap. I hope he returns to!”
