General Hospital News: John J. York Is Desperately Reaching Out

General Hospital star John J. York (Mac Scorpio) is reaching out to his fans and viewers of the soap as he desperately needs everyone’s help. Keep reading below for everything you need to know.

John took to his X account to write, “Good morning. Mark your calendars! February 17th is #GVHDDAY…a day to honor and support those living with graft-versus-host disease.

As many of our readers already know, Unfortunately, John was hit with a major health blow in late 2022. The actor was diagnosed with two blood and bone marrow disorders. He also has multiple smoldering myeloma.

He underwent a stem cell transplant in December 2023 and admitted that he has a long road ahead of him.

Some of his fans and followers commented on the matter with, “I learned about so many things (like Lupus, for example) by watching ABC Soaps!”

Another fan wrote, “Thanks so much for continuing to help us spread awareness, John! You have always been my favorite actor on General Hospital. I wish they would put you in more storylines.”

John is a General Hospital legend as he began appearing on the show back in 1983. The youngest of six children, he was born in Chicago in 1958.

Along with his work on daytime television, he’s also appeared on the network television shows Werewolf, Drake and Josh Go Hollywood and in Wizards of Waverly Place.
