During a recent talk show appearance, actress Laura Wright talked about having to yell at her General Hospital co-star Cameron Mathison. Notably, real life made the scene much more brutal than it would have been otherwise. Mathison himself was also there to comment on the experience.

Laura Wright Even Apologized Before Working On The Scene

Wright has had a long career in soaps, appearing in series like LovingThe City, and Guiding Light. Starting in 2005, she would then take on the role of Carly Corinthos.

Naturally, Wright’s work on General Hospital means she has worked with actor Cameron Mathison, who plays Drew Cain on the soap. Mathison would take over the role in 2021, initially being announced in an undisclosed role.

As noted by Entertainment Weekly, Wright recently recounted a notable incident between her and Mathison on The Jennifer Hudson Show. Notably, Wright appeared with a few of her General Hospital co-stars, including Mathison himself.

As the publication noted, Mathison lost his home and all of his belongings in the Easton fire in Los Angeles. However, Mathison was still working on General Hospital by the next day. Wright noted, “I had to yell at Cameron,” during the recent tragedy.

Before working on the scene, Wright tried to make sure that Mathison was alright. As she noted, “I had to go up to Cameron, and I’m like, ‘Can I please hug you? ‘Cause I’m getting ready to start yelling in your face.’”

Mathison himself also recalled, “She came up and apologized first. My character has got reason to be yelled at [during] the moment! And Laura was very sweet. She’s like, ‘I’m so sorry but I’ve got to lay into you today after you just lost your house and everything you own.’” Wright herself added, “And you were like, ‘Please do. I think I need a distraction!’”

Mathison Also Talked About The Support He Received From His General Hospital Family

As the publication noted, Mathison also discussed the loss of his home on Good Morning America. At the time, he noted, “I’ve been up all night. I can’t sleep. I’ve lost my home and everything that I own.”

“It’s important to focus on the things that we have and can be grateful for. There’s a lot of that, but at the same time, unless you’ve gone through it, it’s hard to get your head out of that. You’re just stuck thinking and reeling.”

The actor later shared updates with fans on Instagram. As he noted in one post, “Our home was not just walls and things. It was the physical representation of the deep love we have for our children.”

While on The Jennifer Hudson Show, Mathison also noted, “I gotta say I’ve gotten so much love and support from my GH family, from all of you.” He continued, “It’s one of the most unimaginably overwhelming logistical and emotional traumas that you can imagine.”

“It’s just so unnerving, but at the same time, we’re all gonna get through it step by step, day by day, put the pieces back together. L.A. strong.”
