TLC star Whitney Way Thore recently shared a tragic update with her fans. Her beloved cat, Henchi, passed away after a brief illness. Although the cat was nearly 18 years old, Whitney felt blindsighted and devastated by his death.
Losing a pet can be one of the absolutely most emotionally trying times in a person’s life. Henchi was a large part of Whitney’s life and even helped her cope with her mother Babs’ death.

Whitney Way Thore Feels Heartbroken Over Henchi’s Death
MBFFL fans knew Henchi was getting older and struggled with other illnesses in the past. But like Whitney, they felt just as shocked when he finally did pass away.
“RIP sweet Henchimayne. 10.01.2007—01.21.2025,” Whitney first broke the news to her Instagram audience. “I came home today after three weeks away and spent just a few hours with my sweetest boy when he suddenly became ill.”
“He died in my arms an hour ago,” the MBFFL star continued. “He was the most faithful companion to me for the last 17 years and every day I was so overcome with love and affection for him as if it were the first day I ever knew him. From the day I got him from a little pet shop in Korea he has brought me nothing but so much joy. I love you, Henchi.”
The MBFFL Star Reminds Viewers Of Henchi’s Time As A Show Cat
Several days later, Whitney is still sharing her favorite memories of Henchi online. It’ll take a while to cope with his loss. In the meantime, talking about him with viewers seems to be helping her mourn.
“Y’all remember 10 years ago when Henchi won Third Best Household Pet at the cat show but we all knew he should have won first? 🥹” Whitney posted on Instagram, attaching several photos of the late orange cat and stills from the episode.
