‘Sister Wives’ star Kody Brown says his ex Christine Brown ‘forced herself’ into his life
On Sunday’s episode of TLC’s “Sister Wives,” Kody Brown appeared to admit that he never wanted to marry his ex Christine Brown.
“Christine forced herself into my life, she basically just insisted that we be married,” he says in a confessional interview on the episode. “I don’t care that she’s leaving. It hurt initially, but I’m fine. It’s just, stop trash-talking me to my children.”
On previous episodes of “Sister Wives,” members of the Brown family explained that it’s common and even expected in polygamy for a woman who wants to join a plural family to express her interest first. Christine has also repeatedly said that she knew she wanted to be a man’s third wife.
Brown’s words are played in between clips of Christine celebrating her “ex-anniversary” with Kody’s then-estranged second wife Janelle Brown and other friends. The women went out for a meal on what would’ve been Christine and Kody’s wedding anniversary — March 25, 2022.
While reflecting back on her life choices in a confessional interview, Christine tells cameras that she no longer believes plural marriage provides a sound structure for families, though she doesn’t judge anyone for living it.
“But I think once a guy finds the love of his life, the other women are screwed,” Christine adds.
Brown’s fourth wife, Robyn Brown, was the only wife Kody was on good terms with in March 2022. As of October 2023, she’s his only legal or spiritual wife.
Christine and Brown announced their split in November 2021 after over 25 years of “spiritual” marriage.
As seen on episodes of “Sister Wives” following the announcement, the former couple’s problems intensified during COVID-19, specifically when Brown refused to travel to the East Coast with Christine and their daughter Ysabel Brown when Ysabel had surgery to correct her scoliosis.
“He broke my little girl’s heart,” Christine later told People, calling Kody’s decision to remain with Robyn and her children when Ysabel needed him the “wake-up call” that helped her finally decide to end her marriage.
