Watch Kelly Monaco’s Tearful Farewell to ‘GH’ – A Heartbreaking Goodbye!
Kelly Monaco said a heartbreaking goodbye to General Hospital in a rare behind-the-scenes glimpse at her final scenes. She left the show earlier this month after over two decades. Stay on this page to see the emotional moment.
Port Charles Mourns Sam McCall
General Hospital fans were in disbelief when news came in August that Kelly Monaco was let go from the soap. She joined in 2003 as Sam McCall. It didn’t become clear until last month how the show planned to write Sam off.
The character died after making it through surgery to donate part of her liver to Lulu Spencer. Lulu has been comatose since 2020, but will wake up soon when Alexa Havins takes over the role.

Kelly Monaco hasn’t said much about her unexpected firing. She did, however, correct a GH fan who claimed she didn’t take a pay cut. She said she did but was let go anyway. The actress filmed her last scene in September but it didn’t air until November 1st.
A clip of the aftermath of Kelly’s last GH scene circulated on social media this weekend. Wearing only a hospital gown and leggings, the actress addressed the cast and crew present during her last scene.
“I’ve been on this lot for 25 years, and you have all been my family — not only my second family but my first family. I just thank each and every one of you for these memories and this experience that I’ll take with me for the rest of my life.”
“It has been a wild ride, and it will not be the last that you see of me,” she promised. Her fans hope another soap scoops the actress up.
Fans Notice One Thing About Video
Fans spotted her GH co-stars Dominic Zamprogna and Nancy Lee Grahn in the video. But another person stood out. GH Executive Producer Frank Valentini was visible when the camera panned to the cast and crew. However, he wasn’t clapping. The disrespect didn’t sit well with fans who already want him fired. Check out some of the comments on Reddit:
- “Frank is the Devil but karma will handle him soon.”
- “Ugh, I hate Frank for so many things at this point, but this has to be one of the top. He could’ve at least had the decency to clap. Or better yet not be there at all.”
- “Frank is such a miserable loser just standing there like an emotionless stick man.”
- “This is a class act. Can they fire Frank.”
- “They did her so wrong. I hate Frank Valentini even more now.”
- “It’s so rude that’s he is not even pretending to clap”
- “Ugh. Gutted. She looks so exhausted and heartbroken and resilient at the same time. And notice Frank’s not clapping along with everybody else!!”
- “Frank’s an a**shole.”
Do you think he was disrespectful by not clapping for Kelly Monaco after she’d been on the show for over 20 years?
