‘GH’ Nancy Lee Grahn Breaks Silence On Kelly Monaco’s Firing
As Alexis Davis, Nancy Lee Grahn has been playing Sam McCall’s mom on GH for nearly two decades. The actress broke her silence on Kelly Monaco’s firing. Keep reading to see how she feels about the shocking situation.
Sam McCall Dies After Surgery
General Hospital fans suspected that Sam McCall’s time in Port Charles would come to a tragic end when it was announced in August that Kelly Monaco was let go. The actress joined the show in 2003 as the con artist. In 2006, the show revealed that Alexis Davis was Sam’s bio mom. It wasn’t an easy road for the two to forge a relationship. But by the time of Sam’s death, they were close. Sam was also close with Alexis’ other daughters, Molly and Kristina.
Sam McCall found out earlier this month that she was a match to donate her liver to Lulu Spencer. Lulu has been in a coma since 2020 and needed the operation to save her life. After some doubts, Sam agreed to the surgery. Fans thought she would die on the operating table but she made it through. She even got engaged to Dante after the surgery. Sam initially seemed to be recovering but took a turn for the worse and died despite efforts to save her.
Nancy Lee Grahn Breaks Silence On Kelly Monaco’s Firing
Sam’s death on the October 30 episode isn’t the last time viewers saw her. Her mother, Alexis, and former lover, Jason, both came in to say a heartbreaking goodbye. Nancy Lee Grahn, who has been on GH since 1996, took to Twitter to share her reaction to the scenes of Alexis saying goodbye to her daughter.
She came under fire from fans a few months ago after she expressed love for her other two TV daughters but neglected to mention Kelly Monaco. But she made it clear in the tweet that she has nothing but love for her now-former co-star.
The soap vet wrote that as difficult as Sam’s death scenes were for viewers, they were even harder for her and her castmates. “Playing Kelly Monaco’s mom has been effortless and the love is real,” she added.
