‘General Hospital’ Viewers Want Frank Valentini Fired, Why?
General Hospital viewers are fed up with executive producer Frank Valentini. They demand that the soap fire the longtime EP. What happened to make fans so mad?
General Hospital Kills Off Popular Character
Kelly Monaco was unexpectedly fired from General Hospital in August. She’d played Sam McCall since 2003. How exactly Sam would exit was unclear for a while but now the pieces are falling into place.
The character found out she was a match to donate part of her liver to comatose Lulu Spencer. Sam had second thoughts about going under the knife, but ultimately decided to go through with it. The decision will cost her big this week. We don’t know Kelly Monaco’s exact final airdate just yet. But Sam McCall was wheeled off to surgery on the Friday cliffhanger.
The show’s official Instagram shared a preview of this week’s episode and it’s clear that something goes horribly wrong and Sam doesn’t make it. A new rumor speculates that Sam is murdered.
Viewers Want Frank Valentini Fired
Fans of Kelly Monaco pulled out all the stops to try to convince the soap to scrap plans to kill off Sam McCall. There was a petition, a billboard in Times Square and a truck outside the studio where GH is filmed. But nothing worked and the soap stayed with their original plan.
Viewers aren’t happy with the drama in the preview clip. Enraged fans took to the comments to blast the show and demand that the soap replace the writers and EP immediately.
- “It’s not a good storyline to make the donor die.”
- “No matter if you like Kelly or not she didn’t deserve this after all the years she given to General Hospital”
- “killing off a 20 year vet to prop up a recast is nasty work. Franks only legacy will be ruining legacy characters.”
- “Frank Valentini has ruined over 60 years of greatness to nothing . Fire Frank Valentini.”
- “I get that a soap opera needs drama, but killing off Sam was the worst way to go. These writers have to go”
- “Fire the writers. So unfair”
- “You have ruined our soap opera. And you better have a way to bring Sam back.”
- “Can we start a petition to fire Frank he’s been holding a grudge since Kelly made a statement about being disappointed with how they let Billy Miller go.”
The anger spilled over to Twitter as well. The hashtag #FireFrank was trending after Monday’s GH episode. Do you agree that soap should fire Frank Valentini? Sound off in the comments.
