Finn and Hayden’s daughter on General Hospital was finally introduced when Violet Finn made her debut in the Oct. 23, 2019, episode, with young actress Jophielle Love playing the role. And it was love at first sight with viewers who immediately fell under the cutie’s spell! Sadly, that spell was broken when Love’s run on GH came to an end on Oct. 21, 2024.
Hayden Barnes was pregnant when she left Port Charles in 2017, but told Hamilton Finn in a letter that she had lost the baby. However, when she returned to town in 2019, it was revealed that she had given birth to a little girl and was keeping her secret from her daddy. Unfortunately, Hayden had no choice but to come clean when Violet got sick and was admitted to the hospital. Finn was stunned to learn he had a daughter, and also that she was seriously ill. After meeting his little girl, Finn called in another doctor to consult so he wouldn’t be treating his own child, and then confronted Hayden about lying to him.
Once Violet was on the mend and out of the hospital, she and her father got to know each other a little better. Naturally, Finn was smitten with the little cutie, but their lives took another unexpected turn when Hayden was led to believe her life was in danger and skipped town again, leaving Violet in her father’s care! Thankfully, Anna Devane had come home so she was able to offer Finn some help, although Finn wasn’t crazy about his daughter spending time with Peter August given his history. Violet was initially resistant to the idea of Anna marrying her daddy because she didn’t want her mommy to be replaced, but they eventually got her to understand and come around.
As Finn and Anna prepared to tie the knot, they established a loving family unit for Violet and even threw her a lavish birthday party. Unfortunately, Charlotte Cassadine brought an uninvited guest with her, slipping a snake into Ava’s purse to ruin the big day! Violet was also excited to meet her uncle, Harrison Chase, and later her grandfather, Gregory Chase.
Sadly, Violet’s heart was broken when Anna and Finn’s marriage didn’t happen and they split up on their wedding day. She also didn’t quite understand why there was so much tension between her daddy, Uncle Chase, and Grandpa Gregory. (The truth was a bit too complicated for a little kid to comprehend!) Violet moved into a new apartment with her daddy, who had recently begun dating Elizabeth Webber. But the little girl caused a bit of drama for Liz when she found an old photo of her with her estranged father, Jeff Webber. Violet also helped act as a bit of a matchmaker for her Uncle Chase when he was babysitting and Brook Lynn Quartermaine stopped by with some toy lightsabers for May the 4th and they all went out to dinner at Kelly’s. She also helped Finn connect the dots about Liz’s mysterious haunting by pointing out that there was someone present at all of the unusual incidents — Liz herself! While Liz was committed to Shadybrook, Finn and Gregory took Violet and Liz’s sons on a weekend camping trip to take their minds off the situation.
Liz recovered but in June 2023, when she and Finn remained estranged, Violet played matchmaker and set up a romantic dinner for the couple and they reconnected. In fact, Finn asked Liz to be Violet’s legal guardian in case anything ever happened to him. She was worried when her grandfather had a fall while he was babysitting her, but it wasn’t until February 2024 that Gregory and Finn sat down with Violet to explain that he was very sick and had ALS. In May, she caught the bouquet at Chase and Brook Lynn’s wedding, but was absolutely devastated to learn that her grandfather had died in his sleep the night after the celebration.
Violet was unaware that her father had fallen off the wagon after his father’s death and began drinking heavily, reacting badly to anyone trying to help him. Ultimately, Finn agreed to go to rehab and Chase and Brook Lynn took Violet under their wing, moving into the Quartermaine mansion together. Although still worried about her father, Violet tried to settle into her new home, having tea parties with Tracy Quartermaine and wondering when Brook Lynn and Chase were going to have a baby of their own.
After getting in trouble at school for fighting with a bully who had been making fun of her father, Violet got the good news that Finn was getting out of rehab. Although everyone was sad to see her go, Violet left to move to Seattle to live with her dad.
