General Hospital’s Jacqueline Grace Lopez Confirms Fired from GH, Addresses Blaze’s Abrupt Exit

General Hospital (GH) spoilers reveal that Jacqueline Grace Lopez (Blaze aka Allison “Allie” Rogers) is speaking out about her exit from the ABC soap. Blaze officially joined Miguel Morez’s (Ricky Martin) world tour and caught a flight out of town in the August 13 episode, so that marks the end of Lopez’s run.

On Instagram, Jacqueline Grace Lopez confirmed she was fired since she indicated this decision was sprung on her unexpectedly. Let’s look at what Lopez had to say in her departure statement.

“Not gonna lie, this goodbye hurts,” Lopez said. “I think because I didn’t see it coming. That and when you spend almost two years with this group, you start to feel like part of the fabric.”

Lopez expressed her gratitude to GH Executive Producer Frank Valentini as well as the cast and crew.

“Jobs come and go, but it’s the people you miss,” Lopez insisted. “I’m definitely going to miss this bunch.”

Although Lopez’s time at GH was cut short, she’s clearly focusing on the wonderful experience she had and all the connections she made there.

Lopez also talked about just how much playing the role of Blaze mattered.

“I’ve mentioned that as a brown girl, it’s so hard to see ourselves in media, period,” Lopez said. “To have writers introduce Latiné story elements because of my character? Even adding a Latiné last name to my character’s name?”

Lopez was thrilled over those additions and the fact that she got an onscreen family along with a backstory as a non-contract actor.

Plus, Lopez scored a spot in the opening titles and turned what started out as a 10-episode gig into a role that lasted almost two years, so she’s appreciating the victories despite this tough blow.

Since Lopez has received a great deal of support from so many viewers – “especially fans that embraced Blaze’s journey as a gay woman” – she shared just how full her heart was.

“Ultimately, my joy in this work is to help people feel seen,” Lopez said as she wrapped up her post. “And for that reason alone, this chapter of Blaze was an absolute gift. It feels so sudden, but I have to trust in timing. Heading out of Port Charles with nothing but gratitude. Thank you @generalhospitalabc”

Of course, the door might be open for Blaze to make a comeback after the tour is over, so we’ll bring you updates on Jacqueline Grace Lopez’s character and any predictions on Blaze’s future.
