When Bryan Craig heard that General Hospital was looking to see if he would like to come back for another special episode, his first questions were what the storyline would be and who he would be working with. And when he found out that all of his scenes would be with Maurice Benard (Sonny), it made his decision much easier!

“Basically, I was like, ‘Say less!’” he recalled to Soap Opera Digest with a laugh. “Yeah, I’m down.” And before he even set foot in the studio, Craig reached out to his old co-star. “He and I keep in touch,” he explained, “and we’d talked briefly before because I hadn’t gotten the [script] pages yet. I was like, ‘Dude, give me the low-down! Tell me what we’re doing!’ So he kind of filled me in before I got the pages, which was cool. We were both really excited to work together again.”

The soap has been keeping the actual storyline details of Morgan’s visit a secret, and Craig wasn’t about to reveal anything that would spoil the episode for fan. But given that Sonny is not in a great mental head space right now having been off his bipolar medication for a while, hopefully, Morgan’s visit will help put Sonny back on the right track again. “The stuff we filmed went great,” Craig reported. “It was really powerful, and we were both really in it. [Benard] was really happy with it.”

General Hospital: Is Morgan Corinthos Alive?

Morgan’s bipolar diagnosis was a powerful storyline for the two actors.Howard Wise/jpistudios.comCraig joined the cast of GH back in 2013 and earned two Daytime Emmy Awards for Outstanding Younger Actor during his run, which ended in 2016 when his character was killed in a car bomb. Morgan was last seen on screen for a special episode in 2018 that centered on Ava confronting the demons of her past. While this return, like the last, is just for one show, he’s still happy to make another visit to Port Charles.

“I’m surprised that they haven’t recast the role in such a long time,” Craig admitted. “I’m very grateful because I love working with Maurice and I love what we did towards the end of that run [when Morgan, like Sonny, was diagnosed with bipolar disorder]. It was so fun to be asked back and to be able to come back to further that storyline a little bit years later. I feel very privileged.”
